I agree with you Ren, I actually remember seeing "It Follows" in theaters and remarked to my Wife at that time how much the score reminded me of Carpenter's work especially Halloween.

A JLC Instagram selfie but showing her made up as Laurie. The wig looks better to me here than it did in the previous two pics of her as Laurie, so maybe it won't be that bad in the film after all.

I feel like the wig needs to be pulled down a little. The forehead is way too big and it just looks weird. Maybe it'll look different in the film though.

Aye, as long as they don't demythologize The Shape again--something I'm worried about on this film--Matichak could have a long, dark night of the baby-sitting soul ahead of her...with her own, 40th Anniversary Final Confrontation at the end of a storied, Scream Queen career (when I get ahead of myself, I go for broke). More speculation, but it wouldn't surprise me if Carpenter's aboard for more godfathering too, as long as they pay him.

But inquiring minds want to know: If they hit chapter four, will they ditch the roman numerals again?

Likewise, I hope he keeps the taut, "high tension" Howarth era sound...which would feel more appropriate than Carpenter's recent concert snyths. Not that he'd want to go there, anyway, but the latter being, I don't know...a bit too slack, groovy to get the job done? Glad we might have the privilege to hear what Carpenter comes up with, in any case.

I bring some news!

(credit goes to Dyson, who was there to report back with this info)

Nick Castle was at the Mad Monster party Con on Saturday. He signed autographs and even talked a little bit about the new film. He had these things to say:

-The Shape's signature head tilt will be featured.

-Nick pretty much confirmed that it'll be 50% Nick and 50% James Jude Courtney playing the Shape. He said he was really impressed with James and how he studied the 1978 performance.

-The set photographer recreated the Dr. Pepper picture, the hedge shot, and the leaning over the balcony shot for the new BTS photos. Nick said when the movie comes out, he'll bring the '78 and '18 pictures to conventions.

-Nick said there are many loving tributes to the fans and that David Gordon Green is a fan of the original and "nothing would please him more than to see people embrace the new movie. It's very much in the spirit of the original."

-Lots of easter eggs for fans. Nick said to keep an eye out on the blackboard in the school scene. Apparently, someone scribbled "totally" all over it.

-Last one is a bit of a spoiler concerning Dr. Loomis

[Show spoiler]we've been speculating about the Dr. Loomis connection, And Nick Castle confirmed that there will be a connection, but not with Rhian Rees' character. According to Nick, there is a "Turkish actor who will be stepping in to fill the shoes of Dr. Loomis' legacy." After looking at the IMDB, Haluk Bilginer, who is Turkish, will be playing a character named "Sartain". He didn't elaborate on that.

And here are two short videos of Nick Castle talking a bit about the new film:

I honestly believe if this film is a hit and they continue with sequels, they won't even bother with numbers anymore and just stick with subtitles. Seems like a lot of studios are moving away from the roman numerals/numbering of a sequel which is smart.

Great info. Especially that there will be a Loomis-esque character. Perhaps a former colleague or protege? Love that they thought to re-create those famous images on set, too. Can't wait to see the 2018 versions.

Thanks for sharing.

No problem, I knew you guys would appreciate it cause I know some of you are just as excited for this as I am.

I also have come up with my latest theory on how the film will play out.

I think this film is secretly a soft reboot disguised as a sequel. Basically, I think they're going to pull a The Force Awakens.

I think the film will start off with the Shape locked up, then he will escape. He will stalk Allyson (Laurie's grand daughter). While she is babysitting on Halloween night. And then Laurie will come in and save the day at the end sort of like Dr. Loomis in the original. Obviously, I'm not saying it's going to be a complete remake/reboot but again, think The Force Awakens. It will have a similar story, but a bunch of new situations and things thrown in (like the Halloween dance...etc). Just enough to make it different and a continuation of the original.

That's my latest theory anyways, at least until we get a trailer, then I'll see how I feel.

Nice to hear that even though Dr. Loomis is not going to be featured in this film the late great Donald Pleasence characterization of such is going to be honored in some way shape or form.....

Anyone know how many days filming lasted? The original Halloween filmed for 20 (?) days. Be interesting to compare the two.

Also, glad to see you're back. Just make sure you don't get banned again as we need you for any new information!

I'm guessing the first trailer will be attached to 'Truth or Dare' or should I say, hoping.

The original took 21 shooting days to finish. This one took 28 shooting days. So just a bit more.

And I'll try

They started filming January 13 and they had some weekend shoots as well so it definitely was over 30 days of filming.

I wonder if the 2-3 month delay in filming from October to January will affect the film in any negative ways.

Also, I'm hoping what they've said in the past that this movie will focus on dread and tension over graphic violence stays true. I'll be seeing this movie with my parents and while I can handle gore (to a degree, I thought the Zombie movies took it too far), my parents can not handle much gore and excessive violence. So, I'm hoping they keep the gore down to a minimum, just so my parents don't get turned off from the movie as they're really excited for it as well. The Halloween film series is really the only horror film series they enjoy. We've watched the original together numerous times now and will probably watch it one more time before we see the new one.
