I really would NOT recommend a blind-buy on this one, folks. You might think, given the people involved, that it can't be as bad as they say but it's really a horrible mess of a film that reeks of meddling and compromise. It doesn't even have the compensatory pleasures of good cinematography or music or anything. It's just incoherent and tedious. The only really notable element is the bizarre, baffling awfulness of Val Kilmer's cameo.

So unless you are happy to watch Fassbender wander through any old tripe, I'd recommend you don't part with any money for this one. It's (snow) balls.

That's the thing, it has quality cast and director and a great trailer, so you think it's going to be really good. However reviews and word of mouth was horrible and what you've written seems to be in line with what I've read elsewhere. It's a shame as it looked so good!

Yep. But you know when you can just sense that, behind the scenes, the wheels have just come off the wagon and the studio has gone into headless-chicken mode and made everything worse? Like on JUSTICE LEAGUE and FANTASTIC FOUR. That's what's happened here. There are maybe one or two moments (to be generous) that hint at the film it could have been but otherwise, nothing comes together.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend even spending two hours watching it; but I guess it's instructive for those interested in how such a promising team can make something so lifeless. I believe even the Director's all-but disowned it.
