I don't buy this argument since it ignores causality. The code buyers buy codes because they are already more active movie buyers, not the other way around. I'm pretty certain the main benefit of the codes is to help keep the disc market alive, which buys the industry time while it transitions to digital delivery channels and new business models.

That’s before we get to family outings, food and drink etc. In other words, more expensive than buying the Blu-Ray. The difference is, we get to keep the disc and enjoy over and over again. That’s good value to me.
Would you guys begrudge paying £10-£15 for a top class steak when dining out or £10-£15 for a night at the theatre with a programme and sweets? I would hope not.
The problem is, this generation are a greedy, entitled lot. We either get pirated films or people scraping around for digital codes for £3-£5 pound. Even worse, people give away codes (trust me, this is not good for the film industry)
Yes, the guys involved in the industry earn a LOT Of money, but that’s the case with Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Sony, Nintendo, Disney, American Football, Soccer (Premier League) WWE etc..
it’s a selfish act when the film industry should be supported. But a generation of Knock-Off Nigel’s and spoilt brats can’t see the damage they are doing to the industry. Why shouldn’t we pay full price for a product as long as that product offers good value for money?
Maybe things are different across the pond, but over here that is an absolute shit steak

As for streaming, I think it too has peaked. Once more and more studios start creating their own services and content becomes spread across 5-6 different subs people will eventually give up trying to keep up and stick with one they trust which will either be Netflix and Amazon Prime (that's why creating and sustaining brand recognition is important right now). That's when people will start torrenting if something isn't available on their sub and the streaming bubble will pop. Even now strain is starting to show with so much content on so many different services.
Streaming is not even close to peaking yet.

Well the upper end of that (£15) you can get a quality steak for that over here. Sure you can pay a lot more but I was just making a point.

I am going to skip a couple of formats and just wait for direct memory implants for all of my favorite classics.

I highly doubt this is actual censorship, most likely someone at Fox uploaded the wrong version to iTunes. They don't censor albums (unless you want to buy the edited version), they don't censor streaming music, why would they censor movies and TV randomly?

This is a snapshot of the future. Apple wants to be Disney, censoring imo will be par for the course.

I was making some room in my very limited shelf space for the upcoming Shape of Water (4K), Black Panther (4K) and Deep Red and Suspria and realized how little room I have left for movies.

I'm strongly considering going UHD digital for new releases. I'll continue to replace blu-rays with 4K versions of catalog titles (matrix, jurassic park , die hard etc) so that's not really taking up space as they will be replacements.

Paddington 2 is on UHD pre-order(as there's no current US link out yet) and I may keep that digitally. Also have Thor Rangarok on pre-order digitally. I hated Last Jedi but if i ever get it it will probably be digitally even though I have all the other titles on disc.

Steedeel, I'm sorry this is an old argument, todays Providers offer UHD with HDR. If you have the right equipment and Bandwidth, Artefacts and Bad Audio are a thing of the past.

How are people running out of space so easily in their place? Does everybody live in NYC? lol

I've been in enough ~2,000 square foot houses where people have way too much junk and then complain they don't have room for stuff. I'm very organized and I've never run out of space for my stuff and I haven't live in big places before.

I have ample storage space, and I was guilty of having a shelf dedicated to DVD discs but soon it fell out of fashion and I got tired of looking at it and soon discs went into Rubbermaid boxes and tucked under our bed..soon it got moved to the attic, then sold off for scrap at local used disc stores or garage sales.

I could have a wall of discs no problem, but I have no desire to do so anymore, for multiple reasons.

If you are well organized, and have the bookshelf space, but I remember when I collected DVD's and Blu-rays they just multiplied like rabbits and I was putting them everywhere. The Movie Rack filled up, my TV Wall Unit had cabinets I put shelves in there they filled up. I started to Back-up my Movies with a drawer filing system, that filled up. Cataloging that took time, it was a Monster out of control. I didn't realize how many Movies I had till I packed to move.....Boxes and Boxes!

Show me then. Show me a streaming HD image 1080p that matches Blu-Ray. Ditto for 4K. Answer, you can’t.

My house is a modest 2400 sq feet. But even if it was twice the size, I just don't feel the need to look at all that media, all the time. Plus, movie storage has to contend with my LPs, SACDs, etc. I've long since ripped my CDs and moved them into boxes in the closet. Maybe one day if I had a 100 sq foot "closet" just for media?

I buy my fair share of physical media, and it still can be overwhelming. But when I pick up a few dozen digital codes for $2-3 each, it feels really good knowing that the content is taking up zero physical space in my house.
