You should use the monoprice cable and see if the installer guy will buy back the monster one. Perhaps this whole thing can result in a net positive

LOL. Yeah right.. maybe I should sell it to him at a steal of $75!
You really don't know how this made my day. Now another question, can the Wii get on wifi?

ETA: Thanks for the router info, I think I am going to go with the 2nd one as a reviewer has posted dummy details on how to get it to work...lol!

The wii can be connected via lan to the same bridge. The second is wireless N, while the first i wireless G. The second will work with all wireless standards(b,g,or n), but you don't need it if you only have a wireless g router.

You can buy component cable cheap for the Wii (5 connectors at one end: red, green, blu, left audio white, right audio red) to get slightly better image, but usually the provided cable will work fine. Just be sure you adjust it for widescreen.

You should only need 1 Wii component cable. If you get HDMI, you do not need anything else for the Blu-ray player.

Your cart should have 1 Wii cable, 1 (or 2) HDMI cable(s), and any accessories for the Wii. The Wii remote comes with a skin that is pretty nice, so you don't need to buy another one unless you like a specific style. If yours doesn't have one, you can get one free from Nintendo.

I got the other stuff as a suggestion from kpkelley.. as I think we only have one HDMI port.. which would need to be connected to the cable.. so if I only have one port; then I have to do an alternate for the Blu Ray player right? I thought that was what the other components were for.

ETA: Oh I do have two wii cords in the cart. I guess I will keep the 6ft one. Is that long enough?

GUYS!!! I am back!!!! Unfortunately with bad news.. So yes, I only had one HDMI cord.. and then only one set of component cables.. which is one less than what I needed... So for the $150 that I'm out of for having technician come to tell me this. He recommends that I get a receiver, which is all fine and dandy.. more $$$ .. But I feel like with having no speakers..what's the point of me getting a receiver..

So my next question is.. I did a little research and I saw an item like this..
An HDMI switch (will this work for what I'm trying to do?)
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

Or should I just get the receiver and be done with it.. I'm not trying to spend a million dollars... although I feel like I already have. Any recommendations for a receivers? I just need to hook up HD cable, Wii, and BD...

This is a bigger project than I expected.

If you're not wanting to do speakers and a receiver, then just get the HDMI switch. That one's nice in that it comes with a remote, so if you have a universal remote it can switch without having to swap remotes or get off the couch. Just be aware that it's probably not something that can sit up at the TV, so it'll probably have to sit down where your player sits.

If you're thinking of surround sound in the future, it may be a good idea to look into a HTiB solution, such as some of the offerings by Onkyo or Sony. If you're interested folks can definitely get you going on this, but I understand that you mentioned eariler it wasn't something you wanted.

Do you have a camera that you can take some pics of your setup? You can upload them to your gallery here and people will be able to make better recommendations.

High Speed HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Cable 28AWG - 10ft w/Ferrite Cores (Gold Plated Connectors) - BLACK

These are the ones just below the ones in your order are what I usually purchase. They are temporarily out of stock. I am not sure of the difference, maybe someone else can comment.

Default Man...don't sweat this ;)

Okay...first...get yourself a receiver and input everything into that.

This way, your main (one single) output of the receiver will go into your wall and through your totally overpriced bs Monster Cable and into your tv.

Now...the wii.

Go to ebay and search Wii Componant Cables and hook it up that way. Under normal circumstances, the only difference will be that it will give you 480p instead of 480i BUT...when you get a receiver that upconverts, it will do a much cleaner job.

If you need any further help, please feel free to message me privately.

Good luck, enjoy and Welcome to the BluWorlOrder!!!

Only get a receiver if you want a sound system. If you're buying a receiver for the sole purpose of switching between video signals, it's a waste of money. Unless you buy a really cheap receiver, or a good one at a great price.

I mean you guys really rock.. Thanks so much.

Wii:

Yes we got the clear skin that came with the controllers but nothing comes for the nunchuks.. but I saw the pink one and had to have it.. so I'm getting him a black one so I don't have to smack him when he talks about my pink one.. And for two bucks... the

I rescheduled the installer to come next Thursday so I'm trying to figure out what I can order that will be here by then. They were sold out of a few of the cables. And I'm ordering back ups just in case we decide we need an HDMI somewhere else.. lol.
