So what is the process when these titles make it to the streaming services and never hit UHD disc? The work got done. The editing/mastering money got spent, but they stop there and don’t offer the work on disc. WHY THE F NOT?
Is this their way of abandoning disc? Or is there FURTHER work that needs to be done to press it all to disc?
Someone please explain to me me why so many titles are streaming only.

When I found out this hit Apple a few days ago I about threw a chair at somebody.

So only because few days ago it showed on iTunes in UHD it means it will NEVER be released on disc?

^^ It’s a far larger question than just Heat. Don’t be so short sided.
There’s a ton of 4K HDR movies, like Fury, that have been streamable for 2 years and have no plans or rumors for disc.

Had Heat on Vudu for a while. My account is linked to Movies Anywhere and just noticed today that Apple upgraded mine to 4K HDR today for free. But yeah, like everyone else I'm not happy that it's not on physical media.

Some movies have been available in HD for streaming and/or have had remasters appear on streaming that have never been near a 1080p Blu-ray disc either. It's not just 4K, it's simply the nature of the business right now because it's sooooo much easier to slap a stream onto some OTT platform rather than go to the trouble of authoring, replicating and distributing a physical disc. Fox have had 4K remasters of the Die Hard trilogy for FOUR YEARS already but did they end up on BD even when it was worth a damn? Nope.

Fox really are one of the very worst studios for catalogue home video releases, the only reason Heat even got a remastered re-release on BD was because the Regency catalogue changed over from Warners to Fox so they wanted to get their own version out there. But clearly that largesse stopped at 1080p Blu-ray despite this being a 4K remaster and I wouldn't bank on seeing it on UHD any time soon, especially once the sale to Disney is finalised. The two shittiest studios for catalogue content joining together...ugh.

COME ON, I WANTED THIS YESTERDAY IN GLORIOUS 4K Blu-ray. One of, if not the, greatest heist movies ever made. 2 of the greatest, most well choreographed robbery scenes on celluloid. Give me in 4K kindly. Wanted this in 4K since 2014!

So who do I have to give a kidney to in order to get a great 4K Blu-ray edition of this? Is there a 4 hour extended version I can buy, cuz I'm down with that. HEY SLICK, WHERE CAN I GET A 4K Dolby Vision or HLG edition if this? I'll sell my first born

We know Fury is coming and surely Heat will at some point sooner than later IMO.

I share your frustration.

It's because of this I caved in and got an Apple 4K. I'm not exactly proud I am now supporting a streaming device (hence why I don't mention it in my setup ) but I just couldn't wait any longer in getting certain titles...

Meant to say Dolby Vision and confused the terms. Thanks for the scarcasm though. You’re really helpful. You should’ve just posted- JUMP ON EVERYONE! TIME TO RIDICULE LIKE A TROLL!

I just want the piece of mind to preorder this from Amazon so I get it day one when I get home after work via Prime shipping. Where’s my preorder page for the 4K version? I think Mann may be pulling a hoax here!

I’m sure it’s coming. It’ll happen. Warner won’t miss an opportunity.

Just watched this (BD) again, but for the first time on my OLED. SO. MUCH. IMAGE. RETENTION. I have never noticed any image retention on any disc I’ve ever watched until this. It was there in almost every single scene when the shot changed.

I’d still probably pick up the UHD though..

This is on iTunes now at in 4K/HDR - Night scenes look incredible but the daytime shots are too dim in my opinion. Still one of the finest movies ever made.

Do you have your OLED light maxed out or something? That's pretty crazy.

Presuming it would be Fox since they released the remastered BD and now have the rights.

There is nothing about the disc than any other which can cause it. Chances are it was only the first time you noticed it or something is changing with your panel.
