Yeah, I really don't see the big deal. Sure, I would rather Scream release something that hasn't been out yet, but I don't see why they can't do both. I really enjoy the movie and would like to hear the Lucinda Dickey interview, but won't be buying this again... hopefully they announce some other good titles soon.

That was pretty lame though, I guess it's cool for people into steelbooks, but at least Ninja III has a new tranfer/extras... not really the same thing.

I think the complainers are assuming (probably correctly) that this will be the first of many. Yeah, it’s not a bad thing that they’re revisiting these with new scans and extras, but the people that have already bought many of these have to ask “why weren’t these titles done right the first time?” I think that’s where the frustration comes in.

I was referring to new releases of these in the future with new scans/extras.

Oh sorry didn't catch that.

I will add that I'm perfectly happy with my current blu-rays of these titles, hopefully we get more previously unreleased stuff in the future...

I get the frustration to a point, but nobody is forcing anyone to buy these things. For someone that's a super fan of Ninja III, i'm sure they'll jump at this. I love John Carpenter and have all of the SF releases under his name. Did I go out and purchase the steelbooks, absolutely not.

Why wasn't it done right the first time? It was to their skill and knowledge but we all know that technology advances, quite quickly too. The scanning equipment is much better than it was 5 years ago. If SF was doing this with a title they released last year then sure get mad I guess, but one of their early titles that they can do a better job with? Why not? No one is forcing any one to buy these things. It's not like they are done releasing other films and just doing re-releases. And even if they did, well there are about 15 other boutique labels you can buy from.

Could just be you or maybe your equipment? I don't remember anything out of sync when I watched it.

I just got Ninja III on their last huge sale, and it was worth every penny. That opening action setpiece at the golf course is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It is right up there with the climax to Death Wish 3. It's SO damn over-the-top, it just keeps escalating, and it is required viewing for anyone who likes 80s action. The rest of the movie in no way lives up to it, but it's still an entertaining movie. The exorcism/spinning scene is also pretty lol-worthy.

This all said I doubt I'm going to pay for a second copy of it right away.

Ah, people are locking in their pre-complaints now, in order to be ahead of the game. Makes sense.

Scream needs to go out of business.

It appears that they have botched the Drag Me to Hell release and it appears that their release of The Burbs isn't so good either.

Rene Cardona's cannibalism non-classic SURVIVE! (1976) gets a U.S. Blu 6/26:

https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=6752

Quote:
BASED ON A TERRIFYING TRUE STORY

Based on a true story, Survive! is a harrowing story of what people pushed to the limit will do to survive. When a charter plane crashes in a remote area of the Andes Mountains, the surviving passengers, including a team of rugby players, undergo a terrifying ordeal as days go by with no rescue in sight. They will have to fight the extremely cold temperatures and rough climate. What they do to survive is the most shocking story in the history of human endurance.

I believe that's a standard Shout title rather than a Scream one.

Probably, but it's certainly of interest based on its exploitation elements.

To be honest I'm surprised they didn't give it the Scream branding, looking like it could be a lean month unless they pull out something spectacular (I would expect the full June slate to appear on Amazon in the next 48 hours, so they'll have to be quick if they want the honour themselves).

I'd guess that NINJA III being featured on RLM's Best Of The Worst a year after SF released it gave it a solid and sustained bump in sales.

For the life of me I can't figure out why they wouldn't have gone down the re-release path by first bringing over the pre-scream factory titles. The Stepfather, Humanoids from the Deep, and Piranha would have likely still garnered a few complaints, but l feel like re-releasing those titles with new scans as part of the lineup would have made way more sense than Ninja III. I also wouldn't have had a problem with that being it for May or June or whatever month we're up to on pre-orders as I could have at least believed that they were knocking out all the obvious choices at once. From then on they could have trickled out the re-releases of existing Scream Factory releases alongside their other new announcements.

They probably only have a couple of years left on some of those Corman titles (let's surmise they were 10-year licences), so elements permitting I guess Scream-branded double-dips could be in the pipeline. The Stepfather would be a welcome upgrade in my book, especially if they could get an interview with Terry O'Quinn on top of doing a new transfer.

I might be proved wrong yet, but if June is indeed a lean month perhaps it is because they have a lot of strong releases in the pipeline as Felsher hinted (that, or maybe they're anticipating a delay or two among May's releases?)
