![]() ![]() 407 Points | 41 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (3 Times) | Average Ranking: 12 ![]() - Foggy As restless and woozy as a night fuelled by double digit Jagerbombs, and filled with about equal parts bad ideas, the tactile and pulsating thrill ride of Good Time makes for the year's most unique and peerless experiences of the year. A wondrous odyssey driven by a perturbed industrial score, grungy neon visuals that seem to cross the paths of Taxi Driver and Gasper Noe and a fretful and sneaky performance by Robert Pattinson as a truly charismatic yet deplorable chancer. The result is a film that becomes less describable in words than simple impact. - Heinz-Klett A thrilling, fresh, raw ride from start to finish. No beaus, no sunny sides, just filthy neon lights, broken headlights, a pumping score and the harsh life. ... ![]() 410 Points | 49 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (3 Times) | Average Ranking: 13 ![]() - Hucksta G What a loaded film. Every performance is brilliant. If you don't already like Aronofsky, this isn't the film to change you're mind. This film is open to so many interpretations. Please watch it first before you read anyone's and make up your own mind. It's more fun like that. I take it as the history of religion (Christianity) through mother! Nature's point of view. Or it could be seen as an allegory for Aronofsky's failed relationship. I've read all sorts, seems like everyone comes away with something different. Which is awesome. Could tell some of the audience didn't like it, especially the old ladies next to me who kept uttering 'ridiculous.' Look forward to watching it again. I'm sure there's much more to unpack. - DjMethod A challenging and divisive art piece that characterizes our respect for nature through biblical allegory and a home invasion. ... ![]() 417 Points | 50 Votes | Highest Ranking: 2 (2 Times) | Average Ranking: 13 ![]() - GLaDOS Who would’ve thought that The Room would stand out as one of the best movies to come out this year? Okay, it’s not the entire movie, per se, but James Franco manages to craft a heartfelt story on the tumultuous undertakings of one of the best worst movies of all time. James truly shines as Wiseau, perfectly embodying the living meme and his struggles to create a Hollywood film, and the rest of the cast shines as well. For all the production troubles of the real product, The Disaster Artist is a testament to all the aspiring filmmakers who want to make a name for themselves in the business, and a surprisingly poignant celebration of artistic self-expression and failure. - Hellhound The best movie ever made about the worst movie ever made. ... ![]() 437 Points | 44 Votes | Highest Ranking: 3 (4 Times) | Average Ranking: 11 ![]() - Mandalorian I, Tonya is hilarious, tragic, and one of the year's biggest surprises. I laughed throughout the entire film, but walked out disappointed to see someone with so much potential to be a sports legend become an infamous punchline due to circumstance, abuse, and the inability to take responsibility for her own shortcomings... Depending on whose story you believe. Even within the film characters undercut each other's versions of the truth. Margot Robbie is excellent. Sebastian Stan is excellent. But, without a doubt, this is Allison Janney's movie. Her character is fairly one-note, but Janney is captivating in every second of screen time. I thought some aspects felt over the top, and the filmmakers could tell, so they used interview segments, fourth wall breakage, and real clips to embrace that feeling and use it to their advantage. - Karmasux96 I, Tonya doesn’t just shoot higher than your typical biopic, it’s aimed at a completely different target. Writer Steven Rogers chose to lean into the cast of characters and the information he was given in interviews, writing a sharp and funny-as-hell [yet sobering when it needs to be] script that plays its audience like a damn fiddle. Craig Gillespie’s direction only further enhances the story being told, bringing an energy to both the excellent skating sequences and the movie as a whole. All this supported further by incredible performances from every member of the cast. It’s claimed to merely be a redemption for Tonya Harding, but I think the movie is smarter and slyer than a lot of people (many of the movie’s proponents, included) give it credit for. ... ![]() 483 Points | 45 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (1 Time) | Average Ranking: 10 ![]() - Holmes Set in an out-of-the-way Orlando motel, this is a profoundly moving story of childhood and summertime haunted by poverty. The fiery six-year-old protagonist, Moonee, and her young mother, who sells perfume to tourists and occasionally sleeps with men for money, live at the stucco-clad motel, the Magic Castle, which is revealed as a complicated and eccentric ecosystem unto itself. Willem Dafoe delivers perhaps his finest performance yet as the motel’s beleaguered manager, who nobly strains to be his marginalized guests’ confessor, conscience, and safeguard. - jabbercash This film almost made #1 for me, I loved The Florida Project. This film doesn't feel acted, it feels lived. The children in this film feel so real, it doesn't feel like it has a script. It has so much to say about the innocence of childhood, and it's delivered with an uparalleled authenticity. This film has the best acting of 2017, hands down. ![]() 498 Points | 37 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (4 Times) | Average Ranking: 8 ![]() - noapologies This movie was not what I expected it to be. I assumed it would be a gay coming of age story, but it was so much more. It taught me that sexuality is not as black and white as I once believed. Timothée Chalamet gives honestly one of the best performances I ever saw. There are many scenes that linger on him, and without speaking a word, the emotion I felt...truly reminded me of what it was like to be 17 again. - DjMethod Call Me By Your Name breathes a care-free authenticity that brings us close to the sights and smells of its Italian summer setting, where the only internal conflict is accepting oneself. In this way, the film allows us to see summer love grow and develop unrestrained from the prejudices that so often define it for us, and in a way that is so pure, lasting, and unapologetically real. - Foggy For some reason, I adore films about very smart, very academic and well spoken people finding themselves in situations that they can't explain, leaving them speechless. But it takes a special film also leaves that audience just as speechless. Call Me By Your Name is such a warm, joyous yet heart clenching, it's surprising that a film that feels so young and free comes from a screenwriter in his late 80's, yet less surprising that the film itself is so much more wise beyond its years. ... ![]() 542 Points | 72 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (2 Times) | Average Ranking: 13 ![]() - Al_The_Strange Star-Lord and his gang of misfits are back to save the galaxy again! Now with more 70s tunes, more cool weapons, baby Groot, and a lot of emotional baggage in tow. Plot threads come together to break the team apart, where each character gets a chance to reflect and dive deeper into themes of family. It is often insightful and charming, even if the film dips into some low-brow jokes. It's an action-packed thrill ride bursting with color and personality. - LordoftheRings The juke box of the Galaxy musical. - Hellhound It's a rare sequel that manages to match the original, but Gunn pulls it off with some great new characters added to the mix and new heroic roles for some of the villains from the first movie. ... ![]() 559 Points | 74 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (1 Time) | Average Ranking: 14 ![]() - Mandalorian I’ve read many disparaging reviews, and second-guessed my overwhelming praise, but I have a blast every time I watch Spider-Man: Homecoming. I thought Kevin Feige, Jon Watts, and all involved did an excellent job distinguishing this second reboot from what has come before it. Tom Holland was great in his brief Civil War appearance, and a great leading man here. He embodied the dual roles perfectly. I loved the casting choices for his classmates. They had a lot of natural chemistry and added dynamism to the high school scenes. The adult cast is an embarrassment of riches. Even the smaller cameos make an impact. Michael Keaton brought a much needed ferocity to the Vulture. He's as scary out of the suit as he is in it. Homecoming is filled with so much energy and love from start to finish, that I'm more forgiving of its flaws. If you don't like the Marvel Studios style of filmmaking, then Spider-Man: Homecoming isn't for you, but I love the Universe they've built and this is one of my favorites. - imsounoriginal The best Spider-Man movie in 13 years and my favorite MCU movie of the year. - Al_The_Strange Spider-Man has come home to Marvel and finds a pretty decent comfort zone. Action is as grand as ever, but doesn't flaunt it quite as blatantly as the older movies did. Instead, the film becomes something of a high-school comedy that hinges on superhero identities and stakes. It is an endearing blend thanks to the fantastic cast, interesting themes, and charming levity. Best of all, it's a smooth and focused effort, which makes the older films look choppy by comparison. There's a little bit of everything to this film, making this one of the most effortlessly entertaining flicks of the year. ... ![]() 572 Points | 57 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (3 Times) | Average Ranking: 11 ![]() - zorbonaut I don't normally rank animation this high but Coco was one of the best animated films since Wreck-it-Ralph. Touching and thought provoking. - Karmasux96 Coco ticks all of the boxes of your typical Pixar movie: top-notch and colorful animation, heartfelt emotions, and fun-loving characters, etc.. Yet, even though you walk into the movie expecting these things, Coco still manages to wow and catch you off guard. I couldn’t help but be taken by the little things like the bone-shaped cobblestone paths, the skulls of the city skyline, and the constantly creative and fun ways the skeletons are brought to life. And then the bigger things: the genuine heart for and understanding of the culture it’s representing, its irresistible protagonists, and the places the story goes. One of Pixar’s highlights and yet another example that they still have it. - DjMethod We only truly die when the last person we know says our name. It seems nothing is too great a challenge for Pixar, as they handle this theme of death beautifully and sensitively within the Mexican culture. ... ![]() 627 Points | 67 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (1 Time) | Average Ranking: 12 ![]() - Hellhound It's even more rare for the third movie in a series to be the best but, for me, this was the perfect take on the character and had some nice visual influences of 1980's style and the artwork of Jack Kirby. - GLaDOS Thor: Ragnarok is as Marvel as you could get for a superhero, but for someone who’s had the butt end of standalone films in the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe, that’s a good thing. Indie auteur Taika Waititi injects his wittiness into Thor and friends and somehow it manages to work wonders. Vivid, exciting, self-aware, and above all fun, Ragnarok is perhaps Marvel’s funniest movie to date. - Al_The_Strange The end is nigh! The third Thor film takes all the loose ends from the last couple of movies (as well as some of the other Marvel flicks) and ties them up into a colorful and epic space fantasy with a lot more zing and humor than before. The combination of eye-popping action, levity, and theatrics is precisely the makeover Thor needed--his adventure to save Asgard has never been more palatable. The characters are a blast to watch. The story is engaging. It manages to carry enough dramatic weight to redeem the weaknesses of previous films--the wait for Ragnarok turned out to be so worth it. ![]() 645 Points | 52 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (1 Time) | Average Ranking: 9 ![]() - Darth Marcus If there's any film released in 2017 that can be called a work of art, Phantom Thread is it. Based in part on the life of fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciag, and based in part from some of his own interpersonal relationships, Paul Thomas Anderson stitches together one of his most deliciously and delightfully twisted works yet. Set in London during the 1950's, Reynolds Woodcock, played masterfully by Daniel Day-Lewis, is a fashion designer who designs immaculate dresses for high society as he moves on from muse to muse. That is until he meets his match in Alma, played wonderfully by Vicky Krieps, who can meet his stubborn and childish behavior step for step. Stealing every scene she's in is Cyril, played devilishly by Lesley Manville, Woodcock's sister who runs his business for him while he designs the dresses. Lending a sense of elegance is Johnny Greenwood's exquisite score, who is now not only one of the masterminds of the rock band Radiohead, but also a mastermind of cinematic scoring. Hard to categorize, as Paul Thomas Anderson's films often are, Phantom Thread is part beauty and fashion, part cynicism, part romantic comedy, and part madness. One thing is for sure, it's 100% unique. - Holmes Daniel Day-Lewis, who delivered iconic performances in such films as My Left Foot, Gangs of New York, and Lincoln, claims this is his final role before retirement. If so, it would end his career on an incredibly high note. He reunites with There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson to portray a domineering fashion designer whose highly controlled life in 1950s London is upended when he meets an enigmatic Luxembourgian woman, inviting her to live with him as a muse and mistress. Anderson expertly submerges the audience in an idiosyncratic milieu of high fashion and absurd-glamorous wealth, and the film craftily defies expectations as it reveals its central love story’s shifting power dynamic. - jabbercash This is definitely a film that grew on me. The first time I watched it I liked it, but the second time I absolutely loved it. A lot of PTA's films are like that. I hated The Master the first time I saw it, but came back around to it and consider it a near-masterpeice. Phantom Thread is a twisted love story that I was all in for, with one of the best scores of the decade, and incredible final performance from Daniel Day-Lewis. ... ![]() 679 Points | 73 Votes | Highest Ranking: 2 (4 Times) | Average Ranking: 11 ![]() - Mandalorian To put it simply, John Wick: Chapter 2 is a gorgeously designed and exuberantly choreographed masterpiece of action cinema. It's a neon-lit ballet of bullets, bloodshed, and bodies. It's such a perfect orchestra that even Keanu Reeves' cardboard acting is used to its advantage, as a machine-like hitman. I had such a visceral reaction to this tour through a fantasy criminal underworld. Every close quarter kill elicits a wince and a smile. But, why the hell is Laurence Fishburne leading an underground organization of bum assassins? Shut up, John just killed two guys with a pencil... "A ****ing pencil." - GLaDOS If you told me beforehand that a John Wick movie was going to stand out as one of the best films of 2017, I would’ve laughed at you. Fast forward to now, and I’m probably eating crow as I type this paragraph. John Wick’s second adventure is a well-refined follow up to the original and improves upon its predecessor in almost every way. The world building is excellent, the cinematography is gorgeous, the performances (particularly Reeves) are great, and the action sequences are some of the biggest standout scenes of last year. Though it might make you wary of the lethal potential of No. 2 pencils, Chapter 2 is an incredible adrenaline shot from start-to-finish and is a testament to Keanu Reeves as one of the best action movie stars working today. - Al_The_Strange Whoa, what a continuation. John Wick Chapter 2 wisely harnesses all the great things that made the first film work--character, worldbuilding, action choreography, an understated script--and cranks it all up with a bold new set of escalating actions and reactions. It becomes a sprawling revenge thriller on a mythic level. New territory opens up, giving the characters endless space to settle old grudges and challenge old beliefs. At the center is the same ol' John Wick, who remains a captivating antihero we can root for. The last scenes promise a heck of a finale to come. ... ![]() 725 Points | 75 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (2 Times) | Average Ranking: 12 ![]() - imsounoriginal Taylor Sheridan is officially one of the most exciting people in Hollywood right now. While I didn't think much of Sicario, Hell or High Water was arguably the best film of 2016 and now Wind River, his directorial debut and starring the great Jeremy Renner, is one of the best thrillers of the year. Should've been nominated for Original Screenplay and Editing Oscars at the very least. - zorbonaut We already knew that Taylor Sheridan could write. We now know that he also has some directing chops. Can't wait to see what is next from this talented filmmaker! - The Debts ‘Luck don’t live out here.’ Unpopular opinion time but out all writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s works in Hollywood as of late, this chilly thriller bests Sicario and Hell or High Water by about several notches. Haunting is the operative word on this one – in story, visuals and performances. Murder mysteries can make for tragic works and this one, set on an Indian reservation with a local hunter played by Jeremy Renner leading the investigation, is one that feels more real than they probably should. It’s understated but effective work, cold and desolate, in how it’s story plays out and a stiff drink might be required afterwards. The final coda at the end in particular feels like a swift kick to the nuts, especially when you take into account of the recent swarm of sexual harassment claims going on in the world. ... ![]() 746 Points | 80 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (7 Times) | Average Ranking: 11 ![]() - Hucksta G Wow, not the direction I expected them to go at all but I don’t know what I expected. I loved it. The cast is so great, I hope we see more of Benicio. So many beautiful shots in the third act. Only complaint would be some of the humour felt out of place for a Star Wars film but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t laugh. I hope I don’t die before the next one. Also take note Marvel, this is villains done right. - Foggy The second part of the new trilogy takes Star Wars both back to it's roots and into bold new areas, exploring nuances unfamiliar to the series. A more stripped back, character driven focus allows for a more stakes driven plot allowing for larger growth of characters, a tighter more thrilling ride all around. Add to that room to create new visuals and creations to the cannon, and a unique vision that allows Star Wars to become fresh again, and you have a film that can mark itself amongst the original films. - Trollhunter Carrie Fisher, as a person, will be remembered for overcoming her battles with addiction using it to inspire and help others. I will miss Carrie. I grew up on Star Wars, like many of us. Our love for this saga is about nostalgia and our beloved characters. We will never forget her, we will always love her, she will always be a part of our childhoods. ... ![]() 776 Points | 81 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (2 Times) | Average Ranking: 12 ![]() - The Debts ‘Time to float!’ What’s the deal with Clowns anyway? After going through several radical screenplays and a major director departure, this adaptation of the seminal Stephen King classic finally made it into theaters in 2017. And it was good! Hell, great even. One of the better adaptations of his works out there, bar none. In splitting King’s gargantuan novel into two films and making the first one all about the kids vs the clown, it gives the story a great focus it would have never had if the whole book was brought on screen while also channeling the best of New Line horror and Spielbergian childhood wonder in the process. The film might be short on scares, but Andrés Muschietti’s take on IT certainly has no shortage of entertainment, humor and heart. - DjMethod IT succeeds on the chemistry of its cast, its throwback feel, the cinematography, set and character design, and Bill Skarsgård's performance as Pennywise. - Al_The_Strange Stephen King's classic novel is finally given better treatment on the big screen. It's a familiar tale, but remains no less captivating and scary. Each character is given life and depth, with a lot of dark and surprising twists that inevitably bring them together to fight a truly scary villain. Themes of fear are stronger than ever, and with competent skill, the film tells this tale anew with gravitas, depth, and suspense. Last edited by thewerepuppygrr; 03-20-2018 at 11:01 AM. |

How can you not fall in love with this film? Ronan has been building an incredible resume over the years, and her performance in Lady Bird was magnificent, and her onscreen chemistry with Laurie Metcalf is what made my 2nd favorite film of the year so special. Metcalf brings to the table her love, her toughness, and her dedication for what could have been another standard "mom" role and made it her own. - GLaDOS In a sea of bombastic superhero blockbusters, director Greta Gertwig delivers something fresh and heartfelt with her strong sophomoric effort. Through the eyes of Saoirse Ronan’s feisty title character, the film is unafraid to delve deep into the joys and turmoil of adolescence as we explore her moments from senior year to the start of her college life in breakneck speed. What’s perhaps Lady Bird’s biggest charm is that it feels genuinely heartfelt without relying on over-sentimentality in its most endearing moments. They say life imitates art and vice versa, and Lady Bird profoundly echoes that sentiment. ![]() - Karmasux96 The incredible opening shot of this movie telegraphs everything you need to know about Lady Bird, her mother, and their relationship with each other. Mirroring each other in ways neither wants to fully acknowledge, constantly butting heads, these two are difficult characters that Gerwig, Ronan, and Metcalf together make manageable, real, and sympathetic. Gerwig’s direction, like the movie itself, is deceptive in its simplicity and subtlety. Lady Bird is relatable in its specificity, funny yet emotional, and one of the finest coming-of-age movies out there. - Hucksta G Heartfelt and funny. While it treads some familiar coming of age ground it still feels like a breath of fresh air. The performances all felt authentic and there’s a good sense of time and place created. The trailer didn’t do much for me but the film very quickly won me over. Looking forward to hanging with these characters again. Good dialogue too, some great lines in there. ... ![]() 891 Points | 83 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (4 Times) | Average Ranking: 10 ![]() - Mandalorian War for the Planet of the Apes is a character piece, and I couldn't be happier with it subverting our expectations for a more bombastic finale. Caesar is a conflicted leader with the weight of the world on his shoulders, and his stress and anger are visceral. Andy Serkis and Steve Zahn gave two of the best motion capture performances ever as Caesar and Bad Ape respectively. It's remarkable to see so much close-up facial acting in what's supposed to be a summer blockbuster. Every welling of the eyes cuts deep. The villains, from the soldiers to the 'donkeys', are far from black and white. This is an astonishing culmination of a trilogy that came out of nowhere and earned its place among the pantheon of science fiction. - The Debts ‘I have a message for your Colonel: Leave us the woods and the killing can stop.’ I’m still trying to wrap my head around this film’s existence: A 150 million dollar big budget, slow paced epic that says humanity deserves to die and throws around constant references to brutal war films and Holocaust pictures – that mostly involves CG apes that communicate in sign language. Like, how?! How did this get made? Above all, how did it wind up this good? Director Matt Reeves finishes Caesar’s saga with a flawed but satisfying finale. Though not without some noticeable bumps in the road, the film works excellently as an amazing technical and emotional accomplishment. Intelligent, genuinely epic, blockbuster filmmaking like this doesn’t come around this often, especially in the franchise realm. Treasure it. ![]() - Al_The_Strange Not as much "war" as one would expect, but it is surprisingly engaging thanks to its earnestness. It boasts exquisite cinematography, a dedicated cast, and a story that focuses on integral themes of savagery and violence. The film is at its best when it shows the apes contending with their animal selves in the face of human brutality. The journey of Caesar and his renegade apes continues to inspire sympathy and tears as they war for the planet, survival, family, and ultimately their own souls. - Trollhunter Andy Serkis revolutionized the motion-capture genre, and his work as Caesar in this finale, as well as a the whole current Planet of the Apes trilogy was once again worthy of Oscar contention, and once again, ignored. ... ![]() 920 Points | 81 Votes | Highest Ranking: 1 (10 Times) | Average Ranking: 10 ![]() - robomole From Lynda Carter, to the comics, to the cartoons, Wonder Woman has always been my crush*cough* I mean one of my favorite superheroes! While I loved that film, even the ones that didn't couldn't help but at admit she was a highlight of the film that stole the scenes she was in. Luckily her solo film didn't disappoint. She radiated such love and strength. It was a very moving experience for many to finally get a Wonder Woman film, and one that turned out so well! Chris Pine and the rest of the cast led by Patty Jenkins, all do their part to make this film one of my favorites! - imsounoriginal Possibly the most rewatchable movie of the year. The lone bright spot for WB/DC in their failed DCEU experiment that came crashing down in November. ![]() - GLaDOS While admittedly not a fan of the DC Universe, it’s difficult to overlook Wonder Woman as the sole bright spot of a dimming superhero franchise. Director Patty Jenkins manages to craft an earnestly strong narrative worthy for the titular Amazonian warrior, delivered gracefully by Gal Gadot. Coupled with surprisingly great chemistry with Chris Pine, and one of the best action sequences of last year, Wonder Woman is spectacular as it is empowering. - Al_The_Strange Capitalizing off of the best qualities of previous DC films, the stand-alone Wonder Woman movie presents Gal Gadot in role that's as dazzling in aesthetic as it is in charm and physical prowess. Diana is a heroine worth rooting for, not only because she kills so many Nazis, but also because of everything in between the fantastic action scenes. It's really cute to watch the fish-out-of-water dynamics, but it's also captivating to see her rise up in a man's world and grow into empowered heroine. Frances McDormand's grumpy and tactless mother paves through a jangle of ill-behaviour with even worse attitude leading to a film that's not always clean cut (in many ways) but collides together with fascinating and not entirely predictable circumstances. - DjMethod A film elevated by its strong all-around performances, particularly from the unrest and rage of Frances McDormand. ![]() - Karmasux96 As Three Billboards moves along, McDonagh gives layers and complexity previously unseen as you get to understand and know its characters. Nobody is perfect, but nobody is wholly evil. These are crass, yet genuine characters and they are sold by an ensemble of powerhouse performances. McDonagh makes you laugh, cry, and genuinely question your mindset all at the same time. - noapologies Great performances by all, really entertaining flick. The Shape of Water is an unabashedly strange movie. It doesn't try to hide that. The gill-man (of The Creature of the Black Lagoon fame) is one of my favorite movie monsters, and it's a crime that he hasn't gotten more screentime over the years. Doug Jones turns in yet another marvelous creature performance brought to life with a combination of gorgeous practical make-up and subtle CGI. Octavia Spencer, Richard Jenkins, Michael Shannon, and Michael Stuhlbarg are all wonderful in their supporting roles, but without a doubt this is the Sally Hawkins show. She bares all, both physically and emotionally, as the lifeblood of a love story that is built without a single spoken word. Adult fantasy films are a rarity, and thank god we have an artist like del Toro who is still dedicated to making them. - Foggy Brazen and gleefully bizarre, Guillermo Del Toro's newest, and perhaps his best and strangely most accessible film to date, is a meticulous crafted fantasy. With a keen and staggering eye for detail, the gothic storyteller carefully creates a world built on a very particular tone that encapsulates the mature fairytale story allowing the audience to be taken wherever it may go. Ultimately becoming a film that feels genuinely magical without expense to its themes or its audience. ![]() - jabbercash Guillermo Del Toro delivered a film that was injected with his passion. This movie felt like his whole career was leading to this. The Shape of Water is a sweet love story, and also a great sci-fi/espionage thriller/comedy-drama. It's almost every single genre blended together, but it works so well. The cast is fantastic, and the cinematography is excellent. - cgpublic Screened in Sony Digital 4K, Del Toro dreams in cinema and then painstakingly details the wisps of his remembrances for the conscious world, and we are all richer for it.
