Because they're the only way to watch them without the speedup. When you run something filmed at 24 frames per second at 25 frames per second, it runs faster than intended and results in a higher pitch for the audio. This can be corrected, but I checked both The Black Cat and Sounds Like against the DVDs and the pitch is indeed higher. To be honest, though, you might not even notice it. I notice it mostly when there's a piece of music I know well.

Ok, I get it. I do own the dvd too (I've kept them for the extras, mainly).

More bad news -- I watched Right to Die last night and there are forced subs for English writing. It was just one time though -- when Cliff sees the note from Abby on the wall. I checked the subs, and they were turned off. I wish they'd have a separate sets of subs for stuff like this, but I guess with just one line, they figured it wasn't worth it. I hope this doesn't keep popping up in other episodes, but I just have to remind myself that I got the discs for free.
