Now on sale at Best Buy for $199.99. $198 on Amazon.
There are19 reviews at Best Buy for the x700.
15 of those reviews from the "Tech Insider Network". Those guys I believe demo and review and get x700 free.

4 reviews were from actual x700 Best Buy purchasers.

Best Buy stores all over USA. Many peoples also buys from http://www.bestbuy.

I gather not many x700 buyers at regular price $249

The Sony x800 have 3600+ Best Buy purchaser reviews.

I would gather at IFA 2018(september), CEDA 2018, or CES 2019 when(if) Sony comes out with the Flagship DV Disc Player the case design won't be like the x700s. Obviously Best Buy customers likes the x800 style case.

I'm a Best.Buy Elite member. So my return window is 30 days I believe. I think its time for me to audition x700 for with x700's recient FW... I believe its VUDU App do DV but Im not sure if it do VUDU Atmos. I want App Atmos ready.

I will connect the x700 to my LG G6 DV OLED.
I have many VUDU DV Movies.

I'll post my experiences. Especially from x700's VUDU DV App.

I wouldn't mind getting a look at the 75ZD9 though, were one to become available for a reasonable price , because it's got a more responsive panel than the 65" and more dimming zones too. If I were to win the lottery tomorrow I'd have a hard time resisting the 100ZD9 though, even with the ZF9 looming on the horizon.
If I was able to get a 100ZD9, there would be no need for me for a projector anymore. Just thinking about a 100" screen that does the same as its "smaller" cousins is truly amazing. But so is the price...

If the 75ZF9 has 3D then I will be looking into the option of returning my 75ZD9 to the dealer from which I had bought it, and do an exchange (along with additional payment ofcourse). I have kept all of the packaging just in case. I'm not counting on it to have 3D though, so in that case the ZD9's will be my last TVs until the next tech (MicroLED?) comes along.

Yeah, I kinda doubt that the ZF9 will have 3D.

So, has Sony confirmed the Z9F, or are we still talking about unicorns and rainbows?🦄

For all intents and purposes, it will be the 10,000 nit X1 Ultimate-equipped TV that they prototyped at CES 2018.

And it will cost thousands of dollars.

I doubt it will do full HDR specs. The last protoype did 4000 IIRC and then after that the Z9D came along. I do think it is likely the Z9F will have the X1U though. And I'm 100% sure it'll cost thousands of dollars.

The CES TV was an 8K set too, not a 4K IIRC. Not that it makes any difference to HDR brightness but it should be screamingly obvious that that set was indeed a prototype.

At least a year or two away if at all. My Z9D will do the job for at least 3 more years. If I upgrade anything it will be my projector in '19 or '20.

Has anyone here switched to the X700 from an X800? Is the X700 have a louder optical drive than the X800? A user review in the Best Buy website of the X700 said he had both and the x700 has a louder drive than the x800, but I'm not sure if that person was playing the same disc in both players.

I haven't switched from the X800, but, I did recently purchase the x700. Have been through a handful of discs in just a couple days, but I haven't noticed any sound from the drive at all. If I get right next to it while a disc is spinning, MAYBE I can sort of pick up a very, very faint hum.....but that's no different than any other play I've ever had for any disc based media. Definitely never hear it while seated and watching something.

I'm auditioning the x700. Onto LG G6 OLED.
Two main reasons.

1. Someone on another forum mentions VUDU App with Atmos and UHD(upon March FW). Which on my LG G6 OLED means VUDU DV App.

2. A recient German review on this thread published that the x700 has excellent 4K upscaling.

My experience with the x700:

With the x700 maybe 3-4 feet from me I did'nt hear noise as I did the FW Update and setup. Playing Revenant HDR10, Goosebumps 1080p at low moderate volume I heard no noise from the x700. This is with FW m43.r.0104.

The power brick was really small and light weight. Maybe 2-3 inch long.

The remote was gosh tiny. Smaller than any remotes from past purchase of 6 Sony Disc Players. The x700 remote during my audition gave my fingers, hand cramps. For many reasons this remote was simply Just Sad.

PQ Experience, believe at Auto 2, One HDMI cable with video, audio to the AVR:

Upscaling of GooseBumps 1080p blu ray disc on the x700 was for me a disappointment. My reciever have another brand DV 4K Disc Player attached. Playing GooseBumps from it was much better upscaling. Maybe the x700 PQ is better paired with a Sony TV(?).

I played the Revenant HDR10 Disc from both DV Disc players.
HDR PQ was good on the x700. But I have seen the Revenant HDR10 Disc with better PQ. I would'nt buy the x700 for HDR10 Disc playing. Again maybe it better to pair with a Sony TV.

X700 VUDU App only triggers 4K. Do not trigger HDR, least not with the current FW. Note- VUDU movie label will specify DD+, Atmos, HDR10. Not specify DV.

X700 Netflix App triggers HDR10 for DV movies Bright and Marco Polo. It do not trigger the DV versions of the two movies.

VUDU and Netflix App from my other DV Disc player will involke DV versions for movies.

I will not keep the x700. I have already reset everything to defualt. And logged out from VUDU, Netflix App.

From my experience. I recommend anyone wanting a DV Disc Player to audition 3 or more brands DV Players. And for 1080p, HDR10, DV Disc Playback On more than one kind DV TV's if you have access. Least on more than one kind HDR10 TV.

Same Brand Disc Player to same brand TV pairing may indeed be important.

I do not know how PQ from x800 compares to x700.

You tried out the X800 before and you returned it due to issues streaming from Vudu. I think that your primary use for it was for streaming video. You were slightly interested in the Oppo 203 and turned back due to the cost of it and no streaming options. You wanted to to buy an Xbox One X only for watching movies, but decided not too due to users having playback issues with it.

In one of your messages you stated that you only had 42 inch 1080p tv and you wanted to buy a 4k UHD blu-ray player for it, a few people stated its waste of money to buy a 4k UHD player for your tv, because you'll won't be able to tell the difference in picture quality between a 4k blu-ray player and a HD blu-ray player.

You'll mentioned that you had a huge blu-ray collection before, and sold it all due to lack of space and that you were interested in going to digital movies. You mentioned that you have an Apple TV 4k as a streamer. I think that you did a disc to digital on Vudu before you sold all of all blu-rays. You might have a MoviesAnywhere account and most of your digital movies are in iTunes and Vudu. I think that by now you have close to 900 movies in your digital movie collection. I told you its too late for you to return to physical media due to your large digital hd collection.

I think that the main reason that you want to switch back to physical media besides issues with internet cutting out is that there is a greater chance the digital hd movies have the wrong aspect ratio than the physical disc version. Its not necessary true, even physical discs versions of movies may also have the wrong aspect ratios as well.

You are a very confused person. Each week you change your mind on physical media and digital hd media. You should know by now that more and more people are giving up on physical media, used movie/music stores are going out of business, more retailers are shrinking the physical media section on a monthly basis and replacing blu-rays and 4k blurays with redeemable movie code cards, Amazon.com use to have movie trade in program for store credit but stopped doing it for various reasons, they now promote digital hd on the shipping boxes, and finally its much harder to sell physical media on eBay now. Just stick with digital media since less people are interested in physical media these days.

In my audition of the x700. I did pop in IT(2017) DV disc, Atomic Blonde DV disc to force the HDR10.

Pretty quick I knew to stop auditioning.

Would love to see IFA(2018) September, Berlin present a Sony DV Flagship disc player.

Interesting. Given x700 power brick being so small and light why did'nt Sony just solder it in the x700 case?

Some of the new DV Disc Players are going to take awhile to come out.

ie., http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panas...1802234550.htm

Which is also around the IFA 2018 Berlin time period.
Would'nt it be something if new Sony Z9F and new Sony X900 DV Flagship Disc Player are at IFA.

I can't imagine at IFA 2018 Sony do Demo of DV in Z9F with the Sony x700 connected. Can you imagine what the x700 will be selling for in the last quarter of the year or the months Aug-Sept. Sony will need a Cash Cow DV Flagship Disc Player. I can see a new Sony X900 DV disc player with 2 free DV Disc promo.

These Sony 4k players are driving me crazy. I just picked up a new Sony tv at BB for my family room and happened to run into the regional Sony rep. He said they are re-evaluating the x800 and x1000 players for DV upgrades but didn't know yet if they will receive it or not. What next?
