Except the 616 Uncle Ben. That guy is still dead. We've met other Ben Parkers. But 616 is still dead.

Why is the IMAX pink? If it actually looks like that, I might have to pass on the IMAX.

I'm not sure. Has there been other films in the past that featured different color grading when presented in IMAX?

I personally think it's an issue with the upload of the trailer itself, considering even the title in the IMAX trailer has the same pinkish overlay applied:

Someone on YouTube also uploaded a color-corrected version of the trailer, matching the 2.35:1 version:
Considering the consistency of the pink tone and some of the issues with black levels on the IMAX trailer, I think it's a technical issue not representative of the final film (though why IMAX's own comparison video still uses that version is beyond me).

Unlikely. They only do it for Blu-ray 3D.

Darn, that sucks. I always preferred the way The Avengers was filmed without the black bars on top and bottom, not sure of the proper word for that.

1:85:1 (open matte, I think)
That's The Avengers (1:78:1) is home release ratio.

No movie is ever filmed "with black bars on top and bottom". If a movie is filmed with anamorphic lenses, then that's just what is being filmed - and for home video it has to have the black bars in order to show the full image. The movies that are filmed in a flexible aspect ratio, sometimes they can be shown matted in theaters and then released on home video without matting.

See, The Avengers open matte makes for great 3D presentation but it honestly looks like a large budgeted made for TV event film. Honestly I just think it's because of the bland cinematography; as I'm not getting the same feeling when viewing the Infinity War IMAX formatted trailer.

Whedon never really got the look of film framing in The Avengers. Which is interesting cuz his DP was legit. It's just the way Whedon wanted it. Avengers 2 didn't have that problem.

Wut? I was rewatching the 2D BluRay last week and I thought it has aged well. It still feels like watching a major event.

Especially this scene.

I haven't watched The Avengers in a couple of years. Time to dust it off methinks.

He wanted it to look like a comic book that's what he said. After the backlash and his apparent love for the way TWS was shot he decided to go that route. If memory serves me right.

*Cough* it's because he switched from 1.85 to 2.39 for Age of Ultron *Cough*

Naw it not that. It was just shot a lot better than the first Avengers. He took the criticism to heart.

Most Marvel movies still have that Made for TV Show look.

Strange looked cinematic. Even Black Panther as much as I loved it had that TV look on some scenes.

Ant Man looked like a movie from the 90s. So I was cool with that.
