Default Center speaker most crucial speaker

Wow, I just read that the center channel speaker delivers more than 50% of the soundtrack and almost all dialogue. I didn't even know that! So now I had to shell out even more dough for another speaker When does all this HT upgrading stuff ever stop?? This must be the most expensive hobby going and I'm only a noob On the bright side, getting closer to true 5.1 every day

Upgrade-itis never stops, check out Brain Sturgeon's theater for proof. He just upgraded. I put my 'final' system together about a year ago, and I still fawn over my 'current' dream speakers. In a better economy, I'd have them already...

I thought that most were aware that most dialogue and that about 50% of the soundtrack came from the center channel (that is why a high quality Center channel is important). The front L & R is the source of most of the music for the Home Theater. Those 3 speakers are the most important to the whole involvement. The highest quality speakers in the system though should probably be the front L & R.

Yeah, me too! I'm presently happy with my speakers and electronics, but now I'm buying new furniture etc

A pair of FXi surrounds is also in the not-so-distant future to expand my setup to7.1

I just ran wires for a projector that I don't have and a screen that I don't have for a future upgrade. I also remodeled the area it is going in just for that purpose. I told my wife I would stop buying stuff for a year but it is a sickness and I can not wait. Everyone around me thinks I am crazy. I hope Uncle Sam is nice this year so I can stimulate the economy.

It never ends.

I am sure you are all good citizens and trying to help the economy. Men are from a different planet. It is amazing the kind of excuses they use to justify spending more money on a new gadget. They are willing to starve and wear shabby clothes, but they must have the best electronic gadgets. At least women's hobbies are not as expensive.

I've been buying, trading, selling and upgrading my stereo/home theater gear for over 30 years. It never ends and neither do the "side eyes" I get from my wife. But she is supportive and I don't charge...any more lol.

And once you got the 5.1 setup, then next, if not already, you'll be longing to know what those 7.1 BDs sound like. Time to upgrade to 7.1! It never ends.

However, I do recommend investing in the best speakers you can afford. They are the most future proof components in your system and will last up to 20 to 30 years or longer. When you buy a center channel speaker, make sure it matches the left and right fronts. If you have say the Polk rti a9s as fronts, for example, get the CSI A6 center. It'll then be timbre matched to the main front speakers.

Upgrading? Why? You just need 5 of these speakers and you won't have to upgrade in a long time:

You'd have to sell your car and house to buy'em, though.

Oh yes, I am dreaming and scheming every waking moment of how I would like my 7.1 system to be. I spend A LOT of time on A/V vendor websites and A/V forums now

Yes, I completely agree. I spent around $2K for my audio system about 25 years ago and it is still like new. I retired the analog audio components to performing iPod duty but I still use my ADS L570s for my surrounds since I moved the Polks up front to match my new center. Once I get Polk VM20s for the front upgrade, then the ADS will become rear surround (until the next upgrade )

He would also need 20 channels of amplification - the 4 way's must be quad amped!

I think I'm going to get the CSI A6 to go along with my Polk SDA II's soon.

When you are 6 feet under.

It is serious condition that many contract. It can be extremely contagious. Wives have kept husbands from friends houses to prevent spreading. However, the Internet has been found to spread this disease ever faster.

It's not pretty. Some have even been known to have to replace keyboards from the drooling that sometimes follows the examination of a new product. This time of year is extremely difficult due to a certain event known by three simple letters... C... E... S...

Welcome to the "club." Unfortunately, there is no known cure. But then again, do we really want one.
