Germany The Snow Queen 1, 2 & 3 3D Blu-ray (2012/2014/2017) [Region B Locked / Free]

Please note that the French edition of The Snow Queen only has French audio and no English options. Apart from that one, all the films in the series do have English audio wherever you buy them from. The Brazilian releases are Region Free, as are the French releases of the second, third and fourth films (the first is Region B locked). The German releases are all Region B locked. It has been reported that the Brazilian edition of The Snow Queen does not actually play in 3D so that is best avoided.

The fourth film in the series has its own thread here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=321042

Original post:
Don't think this has been released in region A anywhere else but brazil, so if anyone is looking for it, there you go.
It comes with English DTS-MA 5.1.

Thanks. I wonder how good the 3D is for those who have seen it.

I liked these. I have The Snow Queen 3 on pre-order from Germany. Here are my comments from the just bought or watched thread:

I was worried that this would be similar to Frozen but the Snow Queen has no sister here and the plot is quite different. I don't know the source story so can't comment on how faithful it is.

The 3D is decent, not a lot of pop-out sadly but good volume and separation - there are a lot of particle effects, snow clouds etc - overall it's equivalent to Disney style 3D. The animation is a bit more primitive (think the first Ice Age) but the camerawork is a bit more dynamic (lots of zooming through the landscape and swooping helicopter style shots) so that really helps the 3D experience. No annoying songs either, I quite enjoyed it. There's more of a name cast on the sequel but I had no problems with the English dub on the original.

The Snow Queen 2: The Snow King looks much better in terms of the CGI but again has Disney-style 3D with the only pop-outs I recall amounting to a couple of outstretched hands and a gun barrel. Unfortunately the rather thin plot starts slow and centres on the unappealing troll character from the first film (kind of like Jar Jar Binks crossed with Gonzo from the Muppets) and his fellow trolls so isn't quite as compelling. His nose does break the screen occasionally but it's barely perceptible, this isn't really one for pop-out lovers. But the 3D does help in terms of separation and overall immersion so if you're going to watch the film, the 3D version is definitely superior. The end credits run over a still of some ice and you can see subtle layers in that, similarly when characters are frozen in ice, the angles and reflections are impressive. There's maybe a touch less of the swooping camera but there is some good action with minecart mayhem and a ship on skates, and the little white weasel always stands out despite again being the subject of some 'comedy' violence. But that's Russian humour I guess.

In any case, both these films surpassed my expectations and I'm glad to have them in 3D.

I decided against buying the german edition because of my experience with return to oz 3d where the title sequence was in german. My other animation blu-ray from brazil have all the original english title cards.
Should be getting the second one next week, and hopefully the third one will get a release in 3d in brazil so I can get the full trilogy. The studio over there releasing the third movie also released the second one on blu-ray 3d so it is looking good for a trilogy in 3d.

Just watched The Snow Queen today. I kinda liked the movie, but had the 3D been there I would have liked it much better. I kept going back and forth from 3D to 2D and there was absolutely no difference in the two versions. The 3D version was just a flat 2D picture outside of the screen. Bah Humbug!

Can I ask if you ended up getting the 3 movie from germany? Can you confirm if it has forced german subtitles? And are there any title cards in german? Brazil won’t be getting the 3 one on blu-ray and germany is the only place left for me to complete my 3D trilogy.

I did get it, but haven't watched it yet, I'm somewhat behind on my animated titles.

I'm sure it won't be any different from the first two in that it will have German titles and no forced subs but I will let you know when I check it out...

I quickly checked out the disc today, there are no forced subs with the English audio. I only watched a minute or so (not the titles, I skipped to a scene with dialogue) but the 3D looked good to me in terms of depth and volume.

Thank you. I have this on my german amazon cart, but I’m waiting for a little price discount in the other items. Gonna get it with happy family 3d and viy 3d.

It's good to know the French releases are region free, though I wouldn't expect any different from Universal.

It was quite a hassle getting this series Region Free:

Snow Queen 1 (french)-- from an ebay seller in France
Snow Queen 2 (brazil-- Reino Gelado2)-- from ebay Brazilian boltmfs
Snow Queen 3 (french)-- from Amazon.es

This journey finally made me order a multi-region player.

UPDATE:

Snow Queen 1 (french)-- from an ebay seller in France
REGION B LOCKED, French audio/no subs (VERIFIED)

The ideal releases for U.S. collectors appear to be:

Snow Queen 1 (Brazil-- "Reino Gelado")-- Portuguese & English audio (AWAITING)
Snow Queen 2 (Brazil-- "Reino Gelado 2")-- Portuguese & English audio (AWAITING)
Snow Queen 3 (French-- "La Princesse Des Glaces")-- French & English audio / French subs / Region Free (VERIFIED)

Snow Queen 2 (French-- "La Reine des Neiges: Le Miroir Sacré") also appears to be an option but I could only find copies with third party sellers that won't ship to the U.S.

The Brazilian releases of The Snow Queen (O Reino Gelado) and The Snow Queen 2 (O Reino Gelado 2) are region free, have English and Portuguese language tracks and Portuguese subtitles you can toggle on/off.

FYI, the back cover of O Reino Gelado lists just Region A but it plays fine in a Region B player. Number two has the all regions logo (A, B, C).

Are these movies worth getting? They don’t have to be incredible but I’d like decent 3D and a passable story
