I feel like Marvel Studios might introduce the Fantastic Four in an Avengers movie or something first before they get their own film. Considering that people have a bad taste for the franchise now after four bad movies.

It just seems like a difficult team to properly bring to the big screen, granted I really enjoyed the Evans/Alba films.

I admit, I don't know how Marvel Studios is going to introduce the Fantastic Four into the MCU? Because The Avengers are already the Fantastic Four of that universe. A bunch of stuff that you see in the MCU originated through Fantastic Four comics. So how do you make the Fantastic Four stand out in the MCU? But I guess at the end of the day, all that matters is a GOOD Fantastic Four movie. Which has never been done before after four attempts.

I thought Tim Story's first effort was passable; the casting of Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis was 100% genius. The plot was pretty good, too...when you take into account the highest mark at the time was Spider-Man 2. I thought Ioan Gruffudd was too young for Reed then, but he'd be perfect for it now. Jessica Alba had some okay moments, but I didn't really believe her as anything other than the typical bitter ex-girlfriend, who spends half the film shifting between the team's overly-concerned mother figure and an emotional manipulator. The movie's final battle against Doctor Doom still holds up okay, but the sequel was atrocious.

Even back when Tim Story's Fantastic Four came out I hated it. Looking back now, I'm finding less reasons to dislike it. The only major problems I had with it was Jessica Alba's acting how poorly Doctor Doom was done. Other than that, it almost felt like an MCU movie. That is, an MCU movie where Kevin Feige was drunk during the production anyway. So now I'm wondering, what truly made Tim Story's Fantastic Four bad? Sure screwing up Doctor Doom alone is a crime against humanity, but you can say the same about pretty much most comic book movie villains nowadays. I dunno. It's kinda weird. Makes me think Tim Story's Fantastic Four would have been better received if it was released today instead of coming out in a time where comic book movies took themselves a lot more seriously. I need to rewatch the movie again. Except for Rise of the Silver Surfer, now that one truly sucked.

Please try not to spoil the movie for others here, keep it over in the spoiler thread if possible.

Proper tagging, warnings is all that's needed the discussion of what the context of said spoiler reveals should be discussed in the other thread.
its the email content we should worry about, tagged post or not.
Spoiler content isnt hidden in the notification email text....so yeah, spoilers should go in spoiler only thread for now
100% agreed

The 3D trailer in front of RPO was amazing. So much depth.

Its not.

Theres a family dynamic that the other super heroes film lack.

There enough character interplay from that perspective that can be mined with the right storytelling.

The previous installments suck ass.

Multiverse. They're already a well established, well respected team who are "The Avengers" of their own universe.

we are going to see this Saturday, opening weekend at Dolby Cinema because we love that and have seen all our big sci-fi & comic book movies for a couple years now.

we do plan on seeing this for our second viewing at IMAX, probably a 3D showing.

Here's how you do it. You make a DOCTOR DOOM movie. Show him as the evil version of Stark, explaining his armor fetish, crossed with Black panther, as ruler of Latveria. He sees what's going on in the world and decides that he needs to rule it. We see how he becomes Doctor Doom as he launches a scheme. At the last second the FANTASTIC FOUR swoop in and stop his henchmen who were carrying out his plan.

End the movie declaring that he'll need to deal with these people himself. Then make a Fantastic Four movie but skip the origin story. Open the film with a big action scene and end it with a montage title sequence where Reed Richards explains "Hello, I'm Reed Richards and a short time ago me and my scientific colleagues, Ben Grimm, Sue Storm and her brother Johnny Storm were involved in an accident that gave us extraordinary powers. We use these abilities along with our scientific knowledge for the benefit of humanity. We call ourselves THE FANTASTIC FOUR."

BOOM!!! THERE!!! DONE!!! You've set up Doctor Doom, making Marvel's first movie that focuses on a villain and you have effectively led into a Fantastic Four movie and just run from there.

But... they're not.

The MCU Avengers are totally reactionary figures, that's their whole thing. Not to say the FF aren't but they're also adventurers, explorers, scientists, and a literal family. They find trouble as much as it finds them. The Avengers aren't that and it's a big difference. It's all personal w/ the FF. The stakes are much much much higher w/ the FF. One of them dies and it destroys the whole team.

Reed is the father, Sue is the mother/sister, Johnny is the wild/rebellious brother, and Ben is the grumpy but ever fun loving blue eyed friend/uncle/whatever. They're the most human of the Marvel Universe. While involved in things that no normal family is, they are. The "normalcy" of family seeps into they're whole existence. The good and the bad.

They're a family. The actions they involve themselves in go beyond the world or the universe because of the stakes that exist due to being a family.

That's the biggest difference between them and any other super team.
