Wow, what do you know..another one of my posts in the 4k threads (asking a genuine question about the movie the thread was about) reported and removed.

Guess someone over there just really doesn’t like me..

Here's a cautionary tale with a happy ending...a tale of enduring love and foolishness .

I recently reconnected with a girl I loved from a distance 35 years ago. The story is long and I'll save the details for another day.

When I was in my early 20s, I saw this beautiful girl walk by my house everyday. She was tall (about 5' 9") and probably about 18 years old. She lived several houses away from me. Every morning for a couple of years, I looked forward to seeing her walk by and I would stand at my front window with a cup of coffee and wait for her. But I didn't want her to see me. I thought it would seem "creepy" if she thought I was just watching her. So, when I thought she was close enough to see me, I would step behind the curtain so that I would remain unseen.

I was painfully shy and I could never have just talked to her. I would have turned four shades of purple and probably fainted.

She's a grandmother now (but still hot). When her marriage fell apart she returned here, to the old neighbourhood.

She told me a shocking story. She said that she walked by my house everyday for two years hoping that I would notice her. When she got close enough, she would look at my house to see if I was there. Of course, that's the point I would step behind the curtain!

So, for two years, a beautiful girl walked by my house to see me...and for two years, I watched her coming and then hid so she couldn't see me.

When we found out what we had done those many years ago, we looked at each other and said, "We have to be the two stupidest people on the planet...that's 35 years we'll never get back".

Now, we're a couple of retirees.

But we found each other...eventually.

Super cool story, bro. Funny how fate works, huh? I guess the timing just wasn't right, but that's still an awesome story.

Was on the freeway when when I caught up to two vehicles ahead of me who were going half the speed limit for no reason whatsoever. Was definitely wondering what the hell was going on when the lead car appeared to be moving to the side of the road to stop, but instead it was more like a random swerve and return to the lane. Once the car ahead of me switched lanes, I saw that it was a student driver in front. Off the freeway, I was afraid to pass because I couldn't tell which lane the student driver wanted to be in.

The two new Machines we have weren't ordered with the "Arctic Package" and have summer oils in the tanks. With it being fn cold here, the hydraulic oil is thick, takes forever to warm up, and is blowing hoses and fittings.
It's frustrating for us operators, but I feel bad for our mechanics.

That's the cautionary tale. A good chunk of my youth and my chance at a family lost because of some screwy decisions. She married a guy who turned out to be a hard-living drinker. She said she immediately that she made a mistake and she thought about me every day for all those years.

But it's also a tale of hope. I figured the course for the rest of my life was set...closing in on 60, with no family, I assumed I was beginning a slow, lonely slide into old age. Yeah, I've got great friends...but they have their own families.

Now, the coming years are looking bright. We see each other almost everyday and we go out four or five times a week. We are dating like teenagers . After six months together, things are better than ever...we are freed from the pressures of "young" couples....she has a house, I have a house, her kids are grown, nobody is paying to put kids through college .

So this is a story for young guys that they shouldn't let a chance like this pass them by. But it's a story for older guys that there is always hope.

FANTASTIC way to look at it. When I first read your post, my thought was optimism anyway and not lost time. It's all about perspective.

I texted my buddy ‘Let’s go to the casino when you’re back in town.’ and as soon as I hit send a casino commercial came on the TV. Needless to say, I’m going to be very rich after this weekend..

the rumor is that they're getting rid of the position, that i'm in, in our domestic offices. and it would affect over 100 people.

we also heard that they would try and find us other position within the company. and i'm not sure i like the word "try".

but as i said, it's just a rumor. so i'm not inclined to believe it 100% at the moment. but if my interview goes well today and they offer me a job, i won't have to worry about it.

well you're right to be concerned.. that word "try" doesn't sound very assuring. I recently applied for a local FedEx driver position, "9-5" type with job great benefits. I have a full time job, but my schedule is less desirable at times, I never know if I'm going to be working 8-9 hours or 12+ hours until the day of. Makes making plans for after work impossible. I do enjoy always having 3-day weekends with the option for as much OT as I want though.

My biggest concern is going back to having to deal with customers again. Having worked in food service and retail for so long I really hate working in customer service, and my current job I don't really work closely with others (we work as a team but individually..)
