im a bit surprised that they still havent released croc dundee here and its sequel(lets not talk about the 3rd one). Luckily the us set is well priced and region free

Arrow Films of the UK have a number of older NZ titles coming to Blu-ray: Sleeping Dogs on 15 April, Smash Palace on 27 May, Vigil on 05 June and The Quiet Earth on 17 June. Arrow is selling them for 18#. They all have optional English subtitles and some extras. Details at: https://arrowfilms.com/shop/

really is awesome to see Arrow releasing these classics on Blu-ray... hopefully there'll be more to come. Fingers crossed for Goodbye Pork Pie!

After looking over the new extras that the Arrow version of 'The Quiet Earth' will have, I decided to order it. I will post an update from what I already have at my site about it, once I have my copy. I too am hoping for some more of the older titles to find their way to blu-ray, via Arrow. Two that come to mind are Starlight Hotel and The Navigator.

regarding The Quiet Earth, I'm starting to resign myself to the idea that I'm just going to have to quadruple-dip on it. I want the German version commentary most. The Arrow one has the most extras (and a different commentary). And the US Film Movement one has yet another commentary.

... and I already got the Spanish BD-R a year ago because I liked its front cover.

In hindsight, I probably should've left that one till last. Oh well.

Given that Sweetie is a highly revered and respected Aussie film with a Blu ray release in the States, I think Australian distributors should really focus on giving it a HD release here. As far as I know the DVD is long out of print...btw, for those who don't know, it's a Jane Campion film from 1989, filmed in the Sydney area.

I am still yet to see it because of how ridiculously difficult it is to track down in this country!

I'm in the same boat. Maybe when I'm on top of my finances I'll shell out the expense for the Criterion, because as much as I'd like to think Aussie distributors care about homegrown talent/cinema, the catalogues suggest they are still heavily geared towards escapist Americana/Hollywood.

Hopefully this will port the Criterion disc. I have the Criterion DVD and will happily buy this Blu Ray if it is a Criterion port.
