Sony released a couple titles last year where it was a 4K + 3D combo pack.

I REALLY wish more releases would have this option. And "Ready Player One" would be a GREAT release to do that with IMHO.

Well I am in love with Dolby Cinema. Just got done watching this and what an experience. Gonna be hard to watch a movie any other way now.

As far as I can tell this is going to be a top 5 disc unless WB somehow screws up big time. Pure visual and audio ecstasy from start to finish. It’s pretty shallow, but I read the book and didn’t expect anything less...or is it more? Anyway, I actually thought the movie did a much better job of handling all the references, and I also preferred how it presented the story and characters. Luckily I don’t hold my own childhood in some mystical reverence so the nostalgia wasn’t offensive to me in any way. And somehow it didn’t feel nearly as exploitative as the book. Will be fun to watch at home to see what I missed.

Should be a hell of a disc and I’m just so grateful this won’t be a Disney production because it would be a shame for the audio to be botched on this one. That race scene...

Actually, Disney is finally using Dolby Atmos on their UHD releases.
Thor Ragnarok, and Star Wars TLJ have it. (I didn’t buy StarWars).
I know Disney has always been a DTS Master Audio supporter, and they still are. But it’s nice to finally see them release both on UHD. I think Guardians of the galaxy 2 has it as well.

Now, if we could only get Nolan to start supporting Atmos. Lol,
I was a little Bummed that Dunkirk only uses DTS. But, it’s okay, still sounds great.

I wasn't referring to Atmos, but rather Disney's insistence on compressing the life out of their audio mixes, Atmos or not. It is truly a crime.

So getting this. The Race is just worth it alone. It's like something out of Burnout/ Split/Second.

Day one for me! Just got back from this and I must say this is the most fun I've had at the movies in a while. Entertaining beginning to end and the visuals I'm certain are going to look spectacular in 4K HDR!

This was an incredibly fun movie with just enough touching moments when/where necessary.

RPO has the potential to be a phenomenally pretty 4K experience!!

I can't wait to rewatch this for quite a few reasons!

The only U.S. Warner Bros. title to receive a 4K+3D+BD combo pack, thus far, was Kong: Skull Island; which happened to only be available in the Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook. If they were gonna do it for any other flick, I'd want it to be this one. They probably won't though..

The fact that WB is still putting out 3D BDs is a minor miracle. Enjoy the format while it lasts.

Although I agree that a $34.99 4K Steelbook should include 3D every time, so I can sell it.

Too bad this isn't a Sony co-production as they would probably have the better disc encode like Blade Runner 2049.

Loved this in IMAX 3D.
I hope the UHD has DV as this is perfect movie for it!

I am preordering every version of this film.

No lie, just got back from seeing this thing and this “might” be my favorite Spielberg blockbuster. I am in love with this thing. Whatever 4K steelbook gets released, it’s mine.

Imax has been my main go to, but I saw a second viewing of this at a new AMC Prime room (same set up as a Dolby Cinema but w/o the HDR projector), but this screening had a new 3D set up. (AMC 14 in Tustin, CA) 1 of 10 Prime rooms in the U.S.

3D was noticeably better on this screen, compared to IMAX, which has been my gold standard for some time (still has the best audio set up).
I suspect it's because they are brand new projectors, so the bulb is as bright as it can be.
The best thing about the presentation wasn't just the excellent 3D, but having Dolby Atmos sound, and buttkickers with the nice recliners.

Probably the best overall audio/3D video presentation you can find at a theater right now.

Just finished watching it and the 4k should be spectacular. I wish
I hadn’t read the book because it differs on so many things but it’s
Worth its weight in gold just for the Kubrick sequence.
