Wish they would confirm, one way or the other. I watched the standard U.S. Blu of Waterworld not too long ago, and was impressed by how well it stood up. This is still pre-CGI, and there's some great practical and stunt work. It has a lot of interesting visuals and some great over-the-top performances. It's definitely a film worth revisiting within a CE format, with alternate cuts, new commentaries, etc.

Why would they use it as the joker in the pack? It's not a Ghost Dad.
One of the worst films of the past 5 years imo

Unfortunately, I agree. Everyone said how great the film looks, but it looked like CGI overload to me, and the story was not interesting and difficult for me to follow. I'm glad I watched it once, but I won't watch (or buy) it again. I know that's the minority option, but it just seems flat.

I got to see a 35mm print of Suspira a few months ago, and the audience did an awful lot of laughing at inopportune places, and this was a subtitled version, not a dubbed one.

Crimson Peak is not unlike The Haunting (1999) in some regards - Absolutely great sets and atmosphere to shoot a film in, but completely wasted by weak plot, non-existent scares, and CGI. No doubt Crimson Peak is the better film, but it's still hugely disappointing considering the potential it had as a modern day gothic horror.

It's the CGI that kills the tension stone dead, the 'red' in the house in particular. There is a similar spectre/character in The Devil's Backbone which is much more believable and therefore scary.

There is no non-dubbed version of Suspiria, regardless of whether it is English or Italian. Most of the major characters seem to mouth their lines in English, so for practical purposes it may be taken as the predominant language. Anyhoo, Suspiria is quite goofy in terms of plot and characters, it's really most interesting as an exercise in style. Inferno ups the goofy content and IMO has less going for it.

Great comparison with the Haunting (1999). Very similar to Crimson Peak in this regard, as the atmosphere/setting was present, but it was inappropriately managed within the parameters of the film. The CGI was not even good CGI in Crimson Peak. The ghost looked like a cartoon, making it instantly laughable/not scary.

When is the next Arrow sale? Too many titles in my wishlist and for the older catalog releases they've been scrapping the booklets?

Agreed. Ideally it would be the same titles as the Shout set... but... with the geometry fixed on the original, the silly song subs removed, and mono pitch corrected on Strikes Again.

Also, we need the complete outtakes from Strikes Again (and not the re-edited Trail versions).

The 123m dir's cut would be cool, but I can't see that happening...

Make it happen, Arrow.

A US release of Torso from Arrow would easily convince me to dump the underwhelming Shameless release.

Well, usually there's a flash sale around Easter, but appears not this year :/

I reckon they just have Heathers but cool if they got either Crimson Peak or Waterworld from Universal, though still surprising as both aren't really necessary for upgrade. The studio disc for Crimson Peak already has a decent amount of extras, and it's not personally one of my favourite Del Toro films (the similarly-ambitious The Shape of Water managed to gel together better). Waterworld is a bit of a joke for obvious reasons, and may be more realistic for Arrow to get, but still pretty unnecessary.
I know others have commented already, but Waterworld is the definition of being necessary for upgrade IMO, it has one of the most mediocre transfers around for a big budget blockbuster. A 4K restoration, extended cuts and some meaty extras would be unbelievable, considering the behind the scenes drama making it!

Not sure why the film is a bit of a joke either, the press at the time seemed to jump on it and Kevin Costner, creating this negative vibe around the film, and it’s regarded as being a flop, yet it has made a nice profit over the years. I’ve always enjoyed the film, I think it’s great fun, with some brilliant set pieces, and the thought of Arrow going to town on it, would make me overjoyed! Please let it be true!

As I said before, considering how much of a cluster**** pain in the ass the last sale was with people either not getting their stuff or waiting a stupidly long time to get their stuff, can you blame them for not doing an Easter sale??

Plus let's be honest, how many of their past sales in a row have been underwhelming as hell lately?

Between that and the lack of free shipping I'm not as fussed about not as many sales, just means I'll wait longer to pick up titles I'm not as interested in. Amazon is doing well for dropping newer titles to £15.

To be fair though, the last sale was pretty good, and the old website clearance sale was amazing! The few before that sucked though

I love Crimson Peak (though I thought Charlie Hunnam was a real weak link in it)
I've also found people seem to attribute a lot of things in the film to CGI that were actually done with practical effects - you can see a lot of it in a very spoiler heavy featurette here
I'd wager it's a film a lot of people come back to and reassess in years to come.

You're not alone. I don't think it's necessarily Guillermo at the top of his game, but it's a decent enough film and far from the disaster a few in here seem to have made it out to be.

I liked Crimson Peak as well. It was predictable as heck but a nice tribute to the Gothic melodrama-thriller as seen in Rebecca or Gaslight (the Boyer version). Many of its weaknesses in narrative were shared by those films as well. But it was mostly a one-time watch for me, and I'm certainly not crying out for a more extras-laden release even from Del Toro.

Basically what I'm saying. I don't hate it, but I don't feel as though I'll watch it again.
