Anyway, I concede there are certainly some who like to hold something in their hands and consider it their's forever. Personally, I only care about Blu Ray as the quality is better than anything on broadcast/VOD HD. |

It's fascinating to go through it, to look at the packagings, the text that was written, each object is a product of the time it was made in. There's so much to having even obsolete formats. |

Agreed. I use the same thing with Universal:
You want general adoption of high def discs? Then end this war, start releasing on Blu-ray, and let's get all those people waiting for a resolution to start adopting! Graffeo is claiming he's waiting for the very thing he's actively discouraging. That's insane behaviour. Gary |

Some say the money became too much to pass up. Perhaps the reality is HD took a lot longer to arrive then he had initially expected. Gary |

One the greatest collector products ever released was the Star Wars Definitive Collection Laserdisc box set.
All three (original form) movies on CAV Laserdisc. And a beautiful hard cover book on the art of Star Wars created for the release. I have that, and the ET Special Edition Limitted Edition Laserdisc box set. That's a numbered copy from a total of 8000 units. And in it Spielberg speculates about revisiting it once again with CGI techniques to remove the hand guns ("the biggest mistake I ever made") Even today, either of these on Blu-ray would sell 100K copies, WAY beyond what was even produced for Laserdisc at its height of success. At one point the pure numbers didn't matter as much as the love shown to bring the best experience possible to the user. Gary |
