Interesting that they shot this in anamorphic, I thought Spielberg had sworn off of that format years ago? (Indy 4 being the exception becuz previous Indy films.)

If my Blu-Ray 3D order ends up getting cancelled by Best Buy because of a group threatening to boycott Best Buy all because Best Buy dared to release the US Blu-Ray 3D combo pack of this movie, I will boycott ALL remaining versions of Ready Player One.

No US Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+DigitalUV or US 4K UltraHD+Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Digital4K combo pack, No Purchase.

There is no satire in what I said. It does look like Best Buy caved in to people who were saying they'll boycott the store and boycott the website if Best Buy dared to have Ready Player One on Blu-Ray 3D in their stores and on their website because Best Buy just pulled the only existing Blu-Ray 3D combo pack of Ready Player One 3D from their website. Pulling a US 2-disc Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+DigitalUV combo pack to make it a 3-disc 4K UltraHD+Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Digital4K as a US (domestic NOT forced import) release is fine and I have no problem with that. What I have a problem with are groups threatening to boycott stores for daring to carry Blu-Ray 3D combo packs in their stores and on said store's websites just to deny people who want to watch 3D movies on Blu-Ray 3D (whether it's from a US Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Digital combo pack or a US 3-disc 4K UltraHD+Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Digital4K combo pack) the right to watch movies in 3D at home.

And like I said, I will boycott ALL of the remaining releases of Ready Player One if my 3D order gets cancelled.

This does not mean I won't buy 4K UltraHD versions of movies that were never in 3D to begin with. Prime examples of what I mean are movies like Dunkirk, Red Sparrow, Split and The Greatest Showman which were never in 3D in the first place.

I believe the Oasis scenes were rendered in anamorphic way too, except the "haunted hotel" recreation part and the live action memory part in Halliday archive. Also I found there are very little conversion errors in many Oasis scenes, so I think they were not all rendered in native 3D.

Where are you getting this info? It sounds like it's DCP information, which may still be delivered in 2K despite having a 4K DI. Also your listing doesn't mention an Atmos mix which this movie definitely has.

This info comes from Deluxe/Technicolor and they distribute drives and digital to the cinema.
But the info clearly states that this is a 2k release through them.
Yes the Atmos track is present as well......

90 % of it (except everything in the Oasis obviously) is ana 35mm, the Alexa was just used for some drone shots, and most of the scenes involving Halliday (there's a BTS photo of the scene where Halliday drops the first clue while talking to Og, Steven wanted to be able to zoom, reposition the image as Parzival watches those memories, so he used like a dozen Alexas to do so) are Alexa, you can notice it easily, except that conference scene where Halliday & Ogden present early VR headsets.

Didn't hear anything about a boycott. But Why? It's not like a 3D release prohibits other formats. Where would this becoming from? Unless it's the BDA trying to keep 3D from cutting into sales of the UHD market? Weird.

Anyway, the same thing happened when the Wonder Woman 3D was pulled. This occasionally occurs when they have to verify inventory so that pre-orders don't exceed the fulfillment capability.

Why boycott for this movie and not for all the other 3D movies Best Buy carries on their website?

I sincerely hope that inventory verification is all that this is, because when Best Buy pulled The Lego Ninjago Movie Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+DigitalUV from their website, they never brought it back ever. And to this day, that movie remains only obtainable (as far as I have seen anyway) as an amazon.com exclusive. And I don't want that happening to Ready Player One Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+DigitalUV.
