I have to say lately i've been useing my Pure Direct button on my reciever for CD's (old David Bowie sounds awesome this way) but iam a fan of both.I try to enjoy everything my reciever has to offer.
Iam one of those people, that are not hell bent on one way only.I also love useing DSP modes. The way i look at it is use it if you got it,It nice to have choices
