Yeah it's one of my favorite movies....and I'm not even a baseball fan. One of Kevin Costner's best performances IMHO.

No, people (well, I can only speak for myself) don't hate it. I enjoyed it when I saw it. I just don't think it has anything in it that demands it be placed in the Criterion Collection.

Nobody has ever quoted Bull Durham, then? If that's the criteria....

Well reviewed and nominated for multiple awards, but a couple of people around here don't like it so it's undeserving of the Criterion Collection... whatever that means.

It's always odd when people put their own personal tastes and meaning into the criteria of what should be a Criterion release. It's even more odd that anyone cares, unless people actually have a "gotta collect them all" mentality and need every numbered Criterion release in order on their shelf.

This seems to happen any time Criterion releases something too commercial. Some people acted like they just got punched in the face when Criterion started partnering up with Michael Bay (which brought about two of the most awesome commentary tracks ever).

This will be the 6th time this movie has been released on blu-ray in the U.S. I have it as part of "The Kevin Costner Collection" 3 film set.

I need to watch this again, but I was underwhelmed by it when I saw it last year for the first time. I didn't care for Susan Sarandon's character. It's my least favorite Keven Costner baseball film, but I suspect I might like it better on a second viewing.

I'm glad it's getting a definitive edition for those who love the movie.

More than enough there to warrant an upgrade and the movie can absolutely hold its own in the Criterion Collection. Hell, i'm just happy to get the damn extras on the blu-ray this time so I can finally trash the DVD.

To this day, I still smile anytime I hear an athlete/sportsperson churn out those bull*** canned answers that Costner gives to Tim Robbins

Well, to be fair it's not six different releases but the exact same disc repackaged multiple times.

Nah. You've proven yourself unworthy of engagement on multiple occasions, including this one, as starting off a conversation with childish name-calling isn't exactly the most productive way to begin a meaningful conversation. Also, I'm not sure why you put "snob" behind spoiler tags. It comes across as cowardly. If you're going to insult someone, at least have the courage to do it plainly.

Lest we forget, "Armageddon" and "The Rock" are a part of the Criterion Collection.

That being said, "Bull Durham" is very worthy of a spot.
