Default Anyone obsessed with getting trophies?

I use to be nuts for getting achievements on my 360... but have since gone away from my 360 and am shifting more to my PS3... dunno why? I like both just as much but find myself wanting to just enjoy the game and not be "concerned" with getting achievements/trophies... I mean its fun to try to get em all... but at some point it becomes an obsession.... anyone else like that with achievements/trophies?

I'll go thru and get as many as I can . For the ones that require 2nd and 3rd playthru's I wont' get those unless i play the game in the future but when I get as much as I think I can I usually move on and go for something else unless I really like the game.

On occasion I do get obsessive about such things. For a time I was obsessed with getting as many of the honors as I could in Soul Calibur 4. In the end though I usually realize how futile and pointless they are and go back to just enjoying the game.

I get what I can. Sometimes the condition requires something that would be very pressuring. In that case, I skip the trophy.

The biggest people obsessed with them are going to be:

caliblue15
SegaSmasher (aka SecretAgentHam)
Idealsupra

I'm more of a trophy *****, and play games that have trophies, though I do love the little trophy icon, I usually only try for the ones that a part of the game. Not ones that make you beat the game 50 times.

I did have a suggestion where we should be able to play on the hardest level of the game to start off with like COD:WAW because otherwise its not fun, because you are replaying the game 50 times when I would rather play it once, and move on to the next amazing game.

No, I don't give a rat's *ss about trophies unless they're linked to unlocking items in-game or (now) in HOme. Like Uncharted where the trophies have now been linked to the pre-existing awards system that unlocks cheats and such. I don't care what my profile says my level is or how many bronze, silver, gold, or platinum trophies I have. The only game I have 100% in is Linger in Shadows because they were all so easy to find.

Depending on the trophy, I might try to get it a few times but most I don't care. High Velocity Bowling's trophies are the worse since they are all linked to playing online. I had a hell of a time one day trying to find anyone to play with so I couldn't imagine wasting my time going for those trophies.

If Sony had trophies convert to currency to use in Home, I might be more interested. But again, that just goes back to them being worth more than bragging rights. Bragging rights to me is just the gamer's equivalent of who has the bigger penis; maybe if it I was 10-15 years younger I'd care more.

Well somebody has to be the first to say it so here it goes - I'm not.

Kudos to those who do like getting them.

Nothing against any of you.

Won't be any of that 'don't you guys have better things to do with your lives other than getting all the trophies'.

I have a few but wasn't trying to get them.

Big part of it might be that the big 4-0 is gonna hit me this year and gaming isn't high on the priority list. Wife, 4 kids from 21 down to 9 (huge gamer but on his 360), job too and all that great stuff that goes with it all.

I find time to play but it kinda comes and goes in waves. For instance, I bought GTA IV used at a pawn shop for $30 back in June and just put it in my 60gb PS3 to start playing it 4 days ago! I drove from the ship yard to the apartment and that's as far as I've gotten in the game. Hope to spend some quality time on my days off this week.

My $.02

It makes me angry that I have to play dead space two more times just to get the trophies. Unless I do the one gun trophy on the hardest level Not that dead space is not a great game but there aren't that many games i'm willing to play more than twice.

I enjoy trying to get them, but I suppose if I was really obsessive, I'd have started a new game in Burnout: Paradise City. Since I'm 99% done with that game, I haven't wanted to bother even though it would give me a ton of new trophies.

I like getting them (check out the link in my signature). I'm by no means a ***** about them and I don't get too much time to game but I definitely enjoy getting them.

This is about my feeling too. I really like the trophies and try to get them, it's sort of RPG(ish)... But unless I LOVE the game i'm not going to replay it 2 times to get the trophies.

Spot on. I love the trophy set up over the achievements because it feels RPGish with the leveling system and different point scale for the different trophies...I also like how the trophies lose points the more you level up...

All Sony needs to do is let 3rd party websites automatically upload your trophies as you get them vs me having to manually add them on playfire...

I agree... OR now that we've had to merge our PSN and Underground ID's sony needs to make those little tags, and have the update automatically.

I never read the whole story but Playfire had a thread or bullentin post concerning why Sony wouldn't allow it...if I remember correctly it was half technical issues and half red tape nonsense, but I'd have to read it again to be sure as its not hard to set up an automatically updating gamercard.

+1 I thought Mirror's Edge trophies were doable but it was going to take a lot more time than I was willing to invest.
