I don't think most things would go that route. That'd be too pricey to make so many alternative scenes, etc.

Stores may not be the go-to anymore thanks to Amazon, but it's still a showing of the shift of buying. Most people buying media aren't collectors in general, not in the sense of people on here. Clearly the demand of the people picking up random films at your chain stores has dropped dramatically.

Onto the other bolded comment, that's quite true. I have thousands of discs but find I now watch movies on streaming once or twice and don't care to buy the disc. Like recently, Power Rangers, Annihilation, Logan Lucky, etc to just name a few. It's convenient and fast. The shift from cable to streaming hasn't helped discs either, it's just becoming too common and too easy and much cheaper.

I've used Roku, Firesticks, XBOX, and TV app platforms and IMO I don't know how anyone considers streaming entertainment without using Roku. It's superior in many way.

Somewhere deep in this thread I posted all the benefits of Roku, but I'm too lazy to search it out.

And give alchav21 a break. Yes, he's told me to sell my house and business and move my family somewhere that I can get 10000TB 'FIBER' for proper streaming, but he's harmless. It's gormless entertainment.

I can’t bring myself to go that route. It just doesn’t have the same feel to me as buying a Blu-ray blind and settling down for film night with the surround sound etc. The quality is way more important than convenience for me.

I have noticed these new TV sets with baked in Roku and Amazon interfaces. I foresee a time when exclusive content will be tied to these services and the like of Roku will need to fight back against Disney, Netflix and Apple with their own locked in content. What a headache that would be. Especially if the baked in smart tv was the way all this is going and yo7 basically had to pick a side when you bought a tv.

That would just make Roku more relevant. Roku is just a media platform, doesn't matter what TV you have, it only needs a HDMI port.

I did this last night downstairs when I was packing up totes for our move. I watched what looked like a vhs copy of Navy Seals on Encore via my cable. Give me a disc or streaming anytime. Because Xfinity cable sucks.

What I am saying is Roku could be squeezed from all sides. I think Roku need to look into doing business with someone and getting into the content game.

You broke up with your first love, Sony Ultra, (you make no mention of her anymore) and now you have trail blazed your trendy self on over to Amazon? That's some real revolutionary thinking there. I mean: who has ever heard of Amazon before?; thanks for spreading the news!

I have been an Amazon Prime member since 2004. I have had all of their Prime streaming perks since their inception. Its that pioneer spirit in me that keeps me so ahead of the curve.

With the possible exception of Amazon's original programming, they are not much of a streaming service. Their streaming selection is poor. They really nickel and dime you with all of their add-on channels for extra and recurring fees. Even then, much of their better content is only available as either a one-off rental or an outright digital purchase.
[Show spoiler]

If being one of those rare Amazon streaming customers makes you feel cutting edge, good for you. Embrace happiness wherever you find it.
I get what you are saying about Amazon and don't disagree with some of your points. Their interface is just the frickin' worst and they definitely need to step up the quality. I wanted to watch Match Game 73 via my BD player last night and ended up shutting it off and watching a movie on cable for noise. I don't mess with the sub services or rentals, but I don't worry about that on VUDU or YouTube either. That being said, they've gotten a few titles that I've added to my que that I need to sit down and watch.

So how is that experience any different than someone who streams? Truthfully, it isn't. I can't speak about the quality of streaming in your country no more than you can mine here. However, I sit down and watch whatever is on the menu that night practically the same way. I just don't limit myself on what format I use.

Quality wise, we get the same as you which is 4K HDR Netflix. It looks great. However, like I say, the experience is just not the same. For one, if I thoroughly enjoy the film, I have it in my collection and add it to the appropriate genre in my HT. with Netflix, it’s a watch it, move on vibe. That’s disregarding how inferior it is to 4K disc A/V wise.

we should have a biggest fails the members on this thread have posted

top 6 for alchav21 paraphrased
Digital is the future. Doesn't know how Netflix works.

Digital has surpassed blu ray. only owns a tv that cant do above 1080i

physical is dead I cant buy a movie for 20 break shrink wrap take out part of the product and still sell it for 20. ( I mean its like buying a car taking the floor mats and then saying the car market is dead because he cant sell his now used car for new car prices.)

Physical is dead I know because I talked to a Walmart minimum wage employee.

You gotta move for fiber its that important.

"these Sound Systems are Fantastic but they get outdated very fast" (Sound systems honestly change very little overtime compared to almost any other electronic medium. an amazing 20 year old speaker can still be amazing)

Steedeel:

Tv's will be replaced by watches.

I'm sure the thread has some other face palm comments so lets hear some some of the most cringe worthy ones you can remember.

I’m willing to bet a handful of folks on here claimed they would never abandon discs only to do that exact same thing. So that to me is a face palm right there. I know for a fact at least one member did that. Not sure they will step forward though?

Honestly I just jumped back to like 6 or seven pages and scanned though I only meant to do 3 for alchav but he had a face palm moment on like every page I jumped back to. I was looking for face palm moments by other people but alchav just vomits onto the the keyboard 10 times more then anyone else on this thread.
