Four? Seriously?!

Was anyone that big of a fan of Avatar to crave four more movies? It sold big because of the new 3d tech, not because of the amazing story or characters.

That's the difference between Avatar and Avengers. After seeing Avengers, I wanted four more movies.

That's some 4D chess, right there

The biggest issue for Avatar is that it has no lasting appeal. There was no true outside marketing. There have been no follow up toys, comics, or video games. To keep the universe fresh in peoples minds. If the second movie does not pan out then what happens. There is a lot of money being spent on something that could fall hard.

Well the Pandora themed Avatar land at Disney World has shown no signs of failing as those attractions always have 3 hour+ wait times.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Director Says SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING's "8 Years Later" Time Jump Was Incorrect

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/aveng...orrect-a159859

Oh my, looks like continuity errors are not just an exclusive issue with the X-Men movies.

Who cares?

If Avengers took place in 2009, then "eight years later" matches up with Spider-Man: Homecoming taking place in 2017.

Both Guardians of the Galaxy movies take place in 2014 and Infinity War picks up four years after those events in 2018.

Imagine how the MCU timeline will get once the X-Men join.

There's a lot of fans of the X-men movies who say "who cares?" but then there are also a lot of MCU fans who like to use the continuity problems of the FoX-Men movies to validate their hate of the films, so I think it's worth pointing out that even the MCU isn't perfect either.

Granted, the continuity errors aren't as much with the MCU as it is with the Fox X-men films, but Marvel Studios did have the benefit of seeing what Fox established and was already doing well before Marvel was making their own films, and then improving upon that by planning out their own path of MCU continuity a decade or so in advance, instead of producing each film one at a time as they went along. So for Marvel to have even a minor continuity hiccup is a bit surprising.

I just don't understand why added the "8 Years Later" to begin with? I fully expected the MCU would get continuity errors eventually, but they could have easily cut out that whole "8 Years Later" thing. What was Kevin Feige thinking?

Captain America: Civil War came out in 2016. Homecoming supposedly takes place two months after that event. If The Avengers took place in 2008, then eight years would match up with Homecoming being in the year 2016.

It's not that big of a deal. Perhaps Feige thought that fans knew The Avengers does not take place in the year it was released.

What I'm curious to know is Feige made a comment about some already released MCU movies take place in the future. But wouldn't comment on which films those were...

I don't know where I read it. I could be wrong. But I remember reading somewhere about him saying "there's movies that take place in the past, present, and future. But that's up to fans for them to decide which films are those."
