At first I didn't appreciate the drug aspect but after re-watching the early episodes of FTWD I really do. I don't think most people realize just how big an issue the remaining drug supply would be in a post apocalyptic world. I'm not just talking street drugs like Nick has had problems with either. Most American adults rely on at least a few drugs for a variety of things - diabetes, high blood pressure, pain, anxiety, etc. Hell, I'm still not yet 40 and have to rely 7 prescriptions for various things. In a zombie apocalypse I'd expect people like myself and other who rely on a multitude of drugs to die off pretty quickly in such a world but there would still be major battles waged by survivors for the remaining supplies of drugs, be in street drugs or prescription types.

I believe the only time that sort of thing was addressed in The Walking Dead was when Dwight's and his wife were trying to horde (insulin?) for his wife's (sister?).

So the time jump for season 4 makes the idea of the series less appealing.
I think it's well worth it. I really liked season 1. Wasn't a fan of season 2 and the early parts of season 3 but the second half of season 3 was really good. I still don't think FTWD has ever been on par with TWD at any point but it's still a solid, if flawed series.

[Show spoiler]I felt he was worth redeeming towards the end. his death seemed so lackluster. to just go out that way...after all he had been a part of good and bad.
I'd get on board with that Troy opinion. I thought he stole the screen every time he was on

Looks like the bad writing continues....

They all walk into an OBVIOUS ambush at the end.

Morgan the kung fu staff fighting superman nearly gets eaten by two slow moving zombies just because his leg is injured. He seems unable to poke them with his staff.

Carry on fanboys.

Got the chance to watch this weeks episode live and really enjoyed it. Ironic that one single episode managed to progress and show more than 2 entire seasons of TWD. I remember the days where I'd watch an episode of TWD and have enough to do an entire write up on my thoughts, similar to this post. Fear is so damn refreshing and I hope it is able to sustain this level of consistent material for years to come.

I was happy to see Luciana again, she was a favorite character of mine since her introduction and I didn't like that most of season 3 was without her. Alicia and Madison continue to impress as strong leading female characters. Nick's character surprised me after hearing that he doesn't go outside of the walls anymore, considering that was kind of his thing in past seasons. Nick was always able to cover himself up in blood and guts and go scavenge all on his own, all while seemingly enjoying it. Maybe a bit of PTSD after the dam last season?

Upon seeing another likely villain group be introduced I was starting to worry early on that we'd be in another never ending group vs. group situation, similar to what TWD has become wrapped up in. The main bad guy character that Madison was talking to mentioned using tricks to mess with and test them, that really interested me. I can't recall if he used the word "tricks" or traps, but either way, the idea of possibly seeing the characters tested in different challenges really caught my attention. Season 3 was able to resolve the situation with the ranch and Walker's group in a good way and I was happy that it all worked out the way that it did.

I really liked how the flashback material in this episode was so much brighter and filmed in a regular way whereas the current material is dark and gray looking, great contrast. I assume we'll get back to seeing more flashback material in the near future and do a bit of back and forth between "now" and "then" or "before" and "after", whatever they use.

I wish they'd go back to the old title card. Love the idea of them staying in a baseball field too. Overall though, loved this episode and can't wait for more Fear. I wish I'd be able to watch it live on a weekly basis but will probably watch via DVR from here on out unless I get the chance to watch live.

I'm less than enthused that this show has a "Negan" now, too. Cause that worked out so great for the main series. Oh joy.

I enjoyed last night's episode for the most part.

I'm growing really tired of
[Show spoiler]every antagonist in The Walking Dead universe being some individual or group of persons trying to assert dominance over another.

I think this season will work well, though, as it appears from the "Now" segment that
[Show spoiler]the Vultures have won the battle vs. the main cast of characters. I assume the majority of the season will the cast trying to reclaim their turf and defeat these Savior-like rip-offs.

Let history be your guide. Since the beginning of time waring factions have tried to dominate others for: land, riches, resources, etc. For thousands of years this has happened and still does to this day.
Then have modern society collapse, with no governments or law and I can imagine this happening just the way the comics/show(s) portray.

Totally agree. In TWD universe, if you don't have groups out there looking to steal from and kill other groups, then it would not be very realistic. It would be like watching a medical drama where the hospital was empty because nobody was sick or a law show where the courtroom was empty because there was nobody on trial or a cop drama where the cops had nothing to do because there were no criminals.

The Vultures aren't asserting dominance over anyone though. They just sit back and wait for a community to fall apart.

“Fear The Walking Dead” Sinks Without “TWD,” Still Fares Well Competitively - Also up from third season average

"According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s episode drew a 1.09 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 3.07 million overall viewers."

I don't understand how they can say the show "sinks" when it lost only 1 million viewers compared to the 4 million it got last week? I could see if it were struggling at 2 million, but these really aren't bad ratings for Fear.

They try to make it sound more dramatic than it is. TWD season 8 was beating pretty much everything else on television in the key demo all season long but if you read some of the ratings articles, you'd think that TWD was toward the bottom on all of tv.

Agreed that these ratings are good. Most cable tv shows do not get 3 million total viewers and a key demo rating over 1.0.

Exactly right. Fear isn't in danger of going anywhere and neither is TWD. Once both shows are at 1-1.5 million viewers then maybe we can talk, but until then AMC is probably fine with where they are at.

Yup...just look at the Into the Badlands season 3 premiere ratings. It received 1.3 million total viewers and a .4 key demo rating. Those are the kinds of numbers that most cable shows get and that illustrates how successful FTWD is. No way will AMC cancel FTWD so they can replace it with a show that will be lucky to get half the rating that Fear gets.

Just watched the second episode. Unlike TWD, I was captivated all the way through as it held my interest.

Same with me, great episode.

I see a few people on /r/fearthewalkingdead complaining that Scott Gimple has already begun to ruin the show... 2 episodes in and I'm not seeing anything wrong so far. Do you see any Gimple side effects at this point?
