I wish when Thor landed in Wakanda the Immigrant Song played, lol. I know it might have cheapened the moment but I loved that in Ragnarok and during the scene I had it in my mind.

Great movie. A few thoughts.
1. Obviously the 1 scenario Doctor Strange saw that lead to victory meant Thanos gets all of the stones. Hence why he was so much at peace going away.... 2. Captain Marvel at the end of the credits. Would be weird to have somebody not even introduced into the MCU until movie #20 come to the rescue of The Avengers. 3. Notice how the main 6 avengers from the first movie are all still alive. 4. The MCU has had two major problems so far. First, is no great villains. That has been solved with Thanos. Second, is that nobody important is ever is in danger of getting killed. And I think this movie just made that problem worse. If one or two people died and stayed dead, that would be great. But too many people died for it to not be reversed.... which means it will only be worse than before.... which is that nobody important dies in the MCU. |

I don't think Captain Marvel is going to be the one to rescue them. She may help, but in all the leaked set photos it's mostly Stark & Ant-Man doing the hard work.
The point of the Avengers being alive is that A4 is the ending to their story, officially. One, or more of them will die reversing time and stopping Thanos. The new characters will continue on. No one stays dead in comics. I dunno why this is a continued complaint. Some deaths are going to stay deaths or, as I said, the ones who lived are the actual ones to die and stay dead when it all ends. |

These are movies, not the comics. Not to mention that there are upcoming Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy movies. It's hard to be emotionally invested in Thanos killing Gamora when she has to come back for a sequel. I'd rather have two or three legit deaths that aren't reversed. They would mean so much more. |

Doctor Strange's dialogue pretty much sets up the next movie on its own and tells you everything is happening exactly how it has to happen for the one scenario that has them ultimately succeed; it's the only explanation given his character of why he would make such an abrupt change to give up the stone.
What the ultimate consequences of that are remain to be seen. Clearly at least some of the 'dead' people are coming back; there is no world in which T'Challa and Parker stay dead. I do think Loki, Vision and Gamora are gone though. |

Seems like it.

There are two or three legit deaths in the film, atm. We don't know if they can or will reverse pre-snap death. We also don't know if Gamora is back for GOTG or not. They could make it without her. She's a big if. |

Great film. My long-winded review is in the non-spoiler thread.
Spoiler stuff... 1. As much as I love Gamora and want her to continue to be an essential element in the Guardians stories, I would applaud the gutsiness of Marvel Studios if they kept her dead. 2. No way that all of these people are going to stay dead. Doctor Strange is the man with the plan, and he's got it all figured out. Still, this is a pretty solid cliffhanger reminiscent of The Empire Strikes Back. 3. Is it just me or did the demons in Thanos's army on Wakanda look a lot like Venom in the new trailer? Coincidence? Hmmm. 4. Despite the absurd number of cameos, each and every character got a golden moment to show his or her stuff. Well done! |

I enjoyed it. It's a very good(but not great) movie that manages to balance a crapload of characters. I came out of the theater with two major gripes. First, it's only Part 1 of a 2-parter(duh), so it's hard to know how to react to some of the emotional moments(i.e. the deaths) in the film given how a year from now they may simply be undone or reversed.
And second, it was a surprisingly disappointing movie from an action standpoint. I loved The Winter Soldier and Civil War in large part because the action sequences were incredible. The same directors made this one, so what happened? The battle in Wakanda was underwhelming. The scenes in Titan, New York, and Scotland were ok, but not very exciting. Hell, the only really good bit of action was probably Hulk vs. Thanos at the very beginning. There's some nitpicky stuff too. Tony's suit was absurd. Even worse than Black Panther's "necklace" outfit. Why does everyone in the universe speak English? How fast are these ships they're traveling on if all of the events in the film transpire over the course of only a few days? The CGI in some scenes was horrendous(especially on Titan). Where was Valkyrie in the opening scene? And on that subject, I didn't care much for Ragnarok, but man, this movie basically renders the end of that one totally meaningless(pending the events in Avengers 4). And finally, if overpopulation is Thanos' primary concern, why not just colonize the thousands or even millions of empty planets out there instead of mass genocide? As for the good stuff, the performances were mostly solid. Brolin was terrific as the voice of Thanos. And the CGI was really well done on him. Everyone got at least one memorable moment in the film. The death of Gamora was a bit of a shock and a ballsy move with Guardians 3 due out in a couple years. That's assuming of course that she remains dead and that this was done by choice and not because Saldana is gonna be too busy making 27 Avatar sequels to appear in anymore Guardians flicks. The Thor/Rocket pairing was inspired and has me actually wanting to see them in their own movie down the road. And of course, it had one helluva cliffhanger. I just hope Avengers 4 doesn't undo what we saw in this movie. I'm sure at least some characters will be resurrected in some fashion. There's no way in hell Spider-Man and Black Panther will remain disintegrated given how much those series are grossing. But if they bring everyone back by the end of the next film save for a couple of minor character, it'll be really disappointing. |

Why were some of the VFX so bad in this movie? Not trying to hate but the movie was so good, it was annoying that the effects kept being so distracting, especially most of the stuff with Thanos.

One other positive I forgot to mention was the 3D. The 7PM IMAX showing I saw only offered 3D, but this time it was actually worth it. It looked very nice in that format. And surprisingly, the entire movie had the expanded ratio, not just a few scenes. Looks like I'll have to import the 3D Blu-ray if Disney refuses to release it domestically like they did with Ragnarok(and apparently Black Panther). |
