Why do they say that LCD is better for gaming?

Y'know, I felt that way.. but I fell asleep with a show on last weekend and I woke up with the DVD menu playing on repeat (screensaver doesn't kick in because it's like if the DVD were playing). Well, my girlfriend and I were watching Troy last night and what did I see in the blue sky on top of Greece? A 'That 70's Show' logo. Barely noticeable.. now, I've had IR but it disappeared in a matter of minutes. This has been here for a couple days. I love plasma but, man, if it's this easy to get burn-in, I might start having to go with LCD. Can't imagine if I played video games and had static bars all over the screen.

Your talking IR, that differs from burn in. Burn in is the reason plasmas were always looked down upon for gaming. Even ESPN or Fox Sports Network gives me IR, no big deal for me since its only noticeable if I put on a white image and stare hard enough at the spot I know the logos are at. Your case bout the logo though is weird, try running the anti static image (I dont know how Sammys are but the Panny has a scrolling white bar)

Because games have constant static images (Hubs, life bars, scoreboards)

What is IR? I did not purchase a plasma because I was told by many sales people that LCD is better for gaming.

That may very well still be IR. I fell asleep with a DVD menu playing as well. The IR lasted 2 months before it STARTED going away. Now you cant even tell it was there.

Ok so *BURN IN* might be rare but what about IR? I don't know about others but I don't want to have IR either. I don't want to constantly be nervous / worried that whatever I do with my TV may cause it to suck for weeks until some IR goes away or spend hours cleaning my screen with some wipe function....

Plasma's may be better overall for PQ but I don't want the issues that come with it. That is why I bought an LCD.

Hopefully they can fix the issues for good either Plasma or LCD so we can all enjoy the perfect TV without issues.

So your screen is stuck with the same image regardless what your watching? Your confusing Burn in with Image Retention.

No, you don't. You get minor image retention (IR). You've been around long enough and have been part of enough plasma threads that you ought to know the difference by now.
