Oh my bad. I thought you meant surprised the original pressing isn't gone yet.

Is there are timeframe on the Mirror Mirror films coming to Blu? Summer, fall? A lot is coming out this year. This may be one of the best years yet for the Blu-ray collector. Want to ensure I'm tracking everything I want to get...

The first pressing sold out and Bill repressed...that much we know. Same for Savage Streets, Voices From Beyond, The Redeemer and Neon Maniacs.

Just Before Dawn was not part of the repressing that he claimed he only sold 100 of and lost the confidence of the buyers cause its initial run was 3000. The other titles he repressed and cried about were Mary Mary and Nailgun Massacre. The best is he complained about how when he repressed Savage Streets it didn't sell and he was stuck with so much and now it's sold out again and the only way you can order it is if you email him and ask and he charges 35 bucks.

Bill did cite Just Before Dawn as one of his best sellers in that Dark Force chat so it must've sold out once if he's saying that.

Hard to keep up with everything Bill related . I do know that Neon Maniacs and The Redeemer had also sold out and he repressed those as well. I had to wait until he repressed to get my copies.

Do most people watch the regular cut or the longer "international version" of Just Before Dawn?

The regular cut works for me. Both the Code Red and 88 Films discs sport great-looking high definition transfers of this cut.

If you really want the grindhouse experience, however, then the extended cut hits the spot.

Yeah I kind of like the emulsion lines and muted colors of the extended cut, just can't remember which is considered the "better" cut of the film - pacing/scene wise.

For me it's the international cut. The shorter cut doesn't lose any gore or cool set pieces, so if you just want a quick thrill ride, I can see why many people are fine with it or even prefer it for just getting to the kills that little bit faster. But what's missing is some characterization that builds to and justifies the ending/ heart of the film. Plus the international version fixes a clunky edit or two.
So I think it depends how seriously you're interested in taking the film. If it's just a fun, hokey slasher to you (and admittedly, JBD ain't Shakespeare), then the shorter version's perfect. If you respect the writing to the point that you don't want to lose subtle nuances the filmmakers built into the story, then the international one is superior (IMO).

But they're also close enough that viewers who aren't big fans of the film could watch both versions and not even spot the differences. It's like extra dialogue in the already more dialogue-heavy scenes, and fleshing out the subtext rather than plot points. So it's not a wide gulf.

I never seem to have the time check out alternate versions of movies especially if they're in less than ideal condition but your assessment will help me make time. JBD is an all-time personal favorite.
