Nope. It balanced out the groups of superheroes extremely well. Perfection considering how many there were.

Just got back from seeing it. It was fun but honestly I don't think the story needed splitting and the film could have been an hour. Felt like it was Action scene, dialogue about protecting a stone, Action scene, dialogue about protecting a stone, over and over again. Also, if Scarlett Witch has the power to destroy an infinity stone why wouldn't they just try to get all the stones to her? Anyway, the fight scenes where phenomenal even if the story felt one note. The ending just left me empty instead of hyping me for the next one. Fun film, but I just wish it were more.

Haha love the gif! I just feel like the Thanos/Gamora bit was the only thing relevant to the overall story. All the other characters had busy work until Thanos was ready to fight them. Thor went to go get his axe. Tony and Spidey went to space. Many characters fought henchmen or fought eachother. The excuse for the Wakanda battle was protecting Vision while they tried to remove his kidne... I mean Infinity Stone but honestly that whole battle wasn't really needed. The film was just Thanos galavanting around collecting stones with ease. I felt like the film lacked a plot. Like I said action scene, discuss the stones, action scene, discuss the stones, for 3 hours. Just didn't do it for me. Infinity War could have easily been one film.

Just watched it a fourth time (2x at a Dolby Cinema, 1x in Laser IMAX 3D, and 1x in regular projection), and man, the movie still packs quite the punch. Not just emotionally but also in releasing all the buildup from all previous films in the universe. I had watched it three times opening weekend and letting a week pass before rewatching it, did allow me to absorb it better and you keep peeling back layers and noticing small but nice details that are almost impossible to notice the first time given how packed the film is. Were it not because it drains me emotionally, I could have probably watched it another three times this weekend, lol.

Perhaps because I rewatched all previous 18 films before watching this one within a short time span, I still get punched emotionally pretty hard. Everything starting with Thanos getting the soul stone, Gamora dying, all the way to Spider-Man turning to ash is all waterworks for me. There are a couple of moments where they stop (Thor getting Stormbreaker and kicking ass afterwards, Wanda killing Proxima Midnight), but the rest of that last third just has me chocking trying to hold back the tears and hoping the people next to me won’t notice. And Wanda’s expression right before turning to ash is also very haunting. I think Elizabeth Olsen is actually very underrated as Scarlet Witch. She does a phenomenal job conveying emotions with the little screen time she gets (given she’s not a ‘main’ Avenger, not yet anyway).

The film also felt very space-opera-ish but I feel like that was the only way to release all that buildup from the previous 18 films. Plus, it’s meant to be a story from the villain’s point of view. So in that way it’s Thanos’ story with The Avengers failing and Thanos’ character arc getting finished, and in the next one it will be The Avengers’ story with them learning and growing as characters and a team (Tony and Steve still need to reconcile) and winning, almost like the opposite of Infinity War.

I kind of want to watch Ant-Man and the Wasp now because it looks more fun and lighthearted and I kind of need that from that universe after Infinity War, lol. It’s like it drains me by the end but I’m still addicted to it .

Anyway... one year away until we find out who’s really dead. I’m still thinking/hoping that Gamora will come back. I almost think that someone will trade places with her in the soul stone and that person will die and she will come back (Nebula perhaps). I feel like once they defeat Thanos Nebula’s story/character arc ends but for some reason I still feel like Gamora’s story can still go forward since she always wanted to become someone else unlike Nebula whose only goal was to kill Thanos.

Also, someone must have noticed the joke when Star-Lord says something like “only an idiot would have left a powerful stone with The Collector” and Thor’s like “or someone who’s very smart” because he was the one who left the reality stone with The Collector during the credits scene at the end of Thor: The Dark World, right? It’s the fourth time I watch it and I’m still the only one who laughs at that part.

End of my crazy thoughts, lol.

Edit:

I also got these cool glasses and magazine from Alamo Drafthouse:

Go back to the lab, Robo, you're malfunctioning again. We may need you to electrocute yourself again.

That would violate my Prime Directives.

I hope part 2 will give the sense of a complete story and maybe give me a better appreciation for part 1 but as it stands that's just how I feel.

If Eitiri admitted to creating the Gauntlet for Thanos, can we confirm that's what was happening in this scene?

If Thanos had the gauntlet at the end of Age of Ultron then why was there an almost 3 1/2 year gap between AoU and Ragnarok when he began hunting the stones?

In a recent interview (I can't remember if it was the Russos or the two writers)they confirmed that scene conflicts with their movie. Basically, that AoU end credit scene should be ignored now as far as movie canon goes.

If Red Skull’s fate on Vormir was to be keeper of the Soul Stone, now that the stone is no longer there, does that possibly mean he is free? And if so, does that open up the possibility of a future retun to the MCU as a villain?
