We know Red Dead Redemption II returns to some familiar locations like Blackwater, but you can also expect to visit several new areas as well, including snowy mountains, deep south swamps, and even industrialized cities. This demo took place in a region called New Hanover, which featured rivers, forests, and mountains of its own.

No Protagonist Swapping
Coming off the massive success of the Grand Theft Auto V story, you couldn't fault Rockstar for going back to the well of giving players control of multiple characters. But Rockstar has other designs for Red Dead Redemption II; this time players control Arthur Morgan through the entire story.

So it sounds like we'll play as one character for the whole game, which is fine in my view, though I did enjoy the choice of GTAV, Michael De Santa being my favorite character. Then Franklin, then Trevor.

To hear there will be an industrialized city, awesome. That's what I was hoping for as a nice contrast to the beauty of the wilderness.

I'm excited to see if Rockstar can turn the tired tropes of prequels on their head.

Would be very sweet if a rdr remaster was released with this like what Ubisoft is doing with far cry 5 and 3

Please don't let the bears be pack hunters in this one, I still have nightmares about the bears in the first game *shudder*

Makes no sense to have to wait a few months for Far Cry 3 when they gladly toke my money for the gold edition.

Keeping Your Horse Alive Matters
Horses were very gamified in Red Dead Redemption. You could whistle anywhere in the world and your steed would gallop to your side, and breaking in your horse only took a short while. Red Dead Redemption II amps up the realism in this department. The more you ride, feed, and groom your horse, the deeper the bond between you two forms. This is critical for the horse becoming more comfortable in precarious situations like shootouts and coming across nature's most formidable predators. If you bond is weak, the horse may throw you off its back and take off away from the threat, taking your supplies and best weapons along with it. This makes training your horse (and keeping them alive) a critical component to RDR II. Should your horse die, you must start this process over again with another thoroughbred.
sounds awesome and possibly frustrating all at once

That sounds like a chore. Could you imagine having to gas up and wash your car in GTA?

Having to deal with the horse like that is really going to make thing difficult though out the game.

It'll depend on how easy it is for the horse to die. In the first game, my horse rarely died as the enemies shot at John.

So in the new trailer, they said John Marsten was in there. Is he the guy with the knife to his throat with the scars in the close up shot with the old guy holding him? I guess that's him. I hope he's got a big role in this game as a NPC (non playable character) since this guy Morgan will be the only playable character in RDR2.

Yes that was John with the scars and knife to his throat. We should get to see him a lot cause our character will be in the same gang as him.

i think its going to be more about the lack of a bond and the horse bucking you off and scattering away. now if you can track it back down it wouldnt be so bad.

Youll play as 1 character through the story sure but once those end credits role you'll be thrown in to John's shoes for some post credits fun.

Going to see the band Calexico tonight, which coincidentally, has ties to Friends of Dean Martinez, an instrumental rock/post-rock band featuring members of Giant Sand, Calexico, and Naked Prey who's current and previous member include Bill Elm and Woody Jackson who (drum roll, please) produced the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack.

Sounds just like weapon breaking in Breath of the Wild. Simply a mechanic that in and of itself offers no fun to the game. While we're at it lets clean our guns so they fire consistently.

Never gonna happen, unfortunately. Even before the game's release in 2010, the codebase was in such a massively-f**ked-up state that Rockstar's Sam Houser basically had to go crawling and begging and groveling to bring Leslie Benzies back into the fold and get the game recoded into a somewhat-releasable state. It was a serious mess.

But even now, the code is in no state whatsoever to sustain future platform-portability -- it's why there's never been a PC release of RDR, and according to some estimates it'd cost Rockstar/Take-Two close to an entire modern "AAA" game's production-budget to put together a team to sift through all that code and make RDR playable on next-gen consoles (not counting the Xbox One, which simply runs the game via Xbox 360 emulation).

Its one of those things that people keeps spouting with nothing to back up. With that said, I do wonder if there is some merit to it bc Rockstar has shown they have no problem re-releasing games to new platforms

Considering how tight lip Rockstar is on their projects and how very little information gets leaked out whos to say we won’t get it with the deluxe edition they haven't announce one yet and could still do it.

The only games they re released was LA Noire which really was a money grab since they also released a Nintendo Switch edition. That game it's self was a even bigger disaster of a production compared to RDR1 since R* literally came in late after Sony put up millions of their own $$$ early on and dropped out and now Team Bondi who did most of the development of that game is now defunct and out of business. R* more so came on late to acquire the motion capture tech from Team Bondi used in LA Noire and ended up with the publishing rights for that game.

GTA V re release or remaster I wouldn't even consider that a true re master since that game came so late and at the end of the PS3/XBOX 360 era and all R* really did was add a FPS mode and continue to take advantage of the crazy behemoth know as GTA Online.

R* has never invested they're own time or hired a 3rd party company like bluepoint games who remastered SOTC, God Of War past gen games etc to remaster any previous popular R* games.
