Yikes.
I really like Lethal Weapon. Actually, this and Silicon Valley are now the ONLY two shows I intentionally make sure to catch up on when a new episode comes out. (Shameless and Arthur are also awesome, but I am a season behind on both haha)

It would be unfortunate if there is no third season due to this situation. I have no idea if the show is doing well or not ratings-wise. I keep telling my friends to watch it, but they don't heed my advice!

The ratings have dropped somewhat from the first season but articles I've seen reporting this story have said that its renewal was seeming like a slam dunk.

Riggs is stranded on a remote island for all of season 3 and the rest of the gang has to follow clues to rescue him.

I swear, Riggs is cursed. Everyone who’s played him becomes a psychotic ***hole.

This week's episode had a great twist at the end with Riggs' dad. The scene with its subtle little reveal gave me chills. Rex Linn is so good in the role. Next week's season finale looks like it's gonna be intense.

And the episode a couple weeks ago where Murtaugh found a pregnancy test at home had another fun homage to the films, when he come into the precinct and found a plant covered with condoms sitting on his desk. LOL!

If Lethal Weapon gets a third season Murtaugh is going to have a new partner:

Quote:
If Fox decides to bring back Lethal Weapon for a third season — and that’s a big if — it will be without co-lead Clayne Crawford. Multiple sources confirm to TVLine that Fox and its studio partner Warner Bros. are actively searching for an actor to replace the embattled actor in the role of Martin Riggs. The outcome of the 11th hour recasting effort will largely determine whether Fox renews the series for Season 3.

Well, I think that would mean that I'll stop watching. I don't mind minor recastings, but such a major one is a turn off for me.

That sucks. I'll probably be done with it if that's the case.

Fox has it's upfront presentation on Monday and that's usually when a network announces it's fall schedule and which shows will return next season so they're going to need to move fast to find a replacement. They could delay a decision past Monday, but in that scenario it's unlikely the show would air before midseason.

I hope they just end it honestly. I have really enjoyed this show but if they replace Clayne or just drop Riggs entirely it won't be the same and the continuity will just bug the hell out of me...

How much of a complete & total d!ck do you have to be to get a series cancelled, putting hundreds of people out of work?

I dunno, if Ashton Kutcher didn’t save Two and Half Men, Charlie Sheen would have been the one to ask. As it is, I figure talk to Kevin Spacey or Jeffrey Tambor.

That was a great episode tonight. But considering how it ended,
[Show spoiler]with Riggs shot straight in the chest, I wouldn't be surprised if they just kill him off and replace him with an entirely new character if they do end up firing Crawford. In which case, I'm definitely out.

What's amazing is how quick everybody is to reach a conclusion based on just one side of a story. Crawford's reply on social media sounded pretty reasonable to me, so I don't really know what to believe of the whole situation.

My understanding of the situation was things were extremely tense on set after he directed an episode and the discussion came up about replacing him IF the show is picked up for a third season. It seems as though the story has blown up since the initial reports however and now it's into the "he said she said" rumours territory.

I saw a couple of the current show's episodes, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed them...but I knew nothing of Mr. Crawford's clashes with the higher-ups. He was a great Riggs, but I was never a rabid fan of the show to begin with...so if they recast I doubt I'll be watching.

I've not watched episodes since the first season, but caught his reply to being fired. I thought it was one of the most original comebacks I've ever heard on being fired. Makes me wish I had time to play catch up on the show.

Latest news is that he has been fired, and they are looking for a replacement. So far, those approached to replace him have not accepted the offer.

Well that's too bad.

It seems every headline is like "Crawford Out" or "Crawford Fired" but then the actual articles say he's "reportedly been fired" or something like that. At this point, I'm waiting until the network or Crawford himself (who said just recently that having supposedly been fired is news to him) says something making it official one way or the other.

In any event, as I saw someone else point out, networks have dealt with much more troublesome actors before who've been allowed to stay on their shows, so Crawford getting fired based on what these issues appear to be seems a little strange.
