Black Panther was a bit of a letdown for me, as well.
Still a solid 7/10 for me, but I was expecting more.

I know it’s popular to make fun of people with a different opinion than your own so I at least wanna give this dude one bit of support. I didn’t walk out and lots of characters was a given. But I had a big issue with the dialogue scenes myself and I thought it made the film boring. Overall the story is very simple. Thanos is collecting infinity stones. So the exposition filled scenes became very repetitive and dull and make you shout “Yes we get the plot of the film thanks!” Over and over again they go over having to protect the stones on this planet and that planet and all the characters have to stress the importance and the rules for each stone and remind us why we’re going to this planet for that task, again and again. Strange talks about it, now Thor has to, now gamora has to, on and on. Gotta keep reminding the audience the world is at stake. This is light years better than Justice League, but at the end of the day one mans infinity stones is another mans mother boxes. Plot wasn’t that deep people. The action is where the film shines.

I knew my post was going to be unpopular in a thread where 99% of people participating are ardently praising the film so maybe I should've posted in the Unpopular Opinions thread . I'm not going to praise a film I didn't enjoy simply because everybody else is doing it. The fact I found the movie boring isn't even why I walked out (I had gotten off a plane just hours earlier and was tired). I was looking for a good action movie for a little escapism and I didn't find that here for whatever reason - is that so wrong? Your points about characters having to explain what was at stake was my main gripe. The special effects, action scenes and even some of the dialogue bits were all excellent as usual. I'll be giving the film a second chance when I pick it up on Blu-ray. By the way, for folks who may be curious if I even like superhero flicks - I think the first Avengers film is one of the best movies ever made.

For me, it definitely is. The most I've seen the other MCU movies was twice in theaters. Up to 5 for IW.

When I saw Black Panther there the IMAX scenes changed aspect ratios.

What gives?!
The IMAX screen I saw it in, was full screen and looked sharper than standard cropped/letterbox screens

No aspect ratio is square. One side is always a tad longer.

It looked to be current day full screen ie 16:9

Yes. An actual IMAX would closely resemble a square (1.43:1) but today, most are filmed in digital IMAX which is similar to 16:9.

Infinity War was filmed in the digital IMAX aspect. So a 70mm IMAX screen would have black bars on top and bottom, while your theater was a smaller version of IMAX and the film covered the entire screen.

70mm IMAX is glorious.

That's the IMAX theater I watched Infinity War in.

Was an incredibly amazing presentation when I saw TDKR and M:I-Ghost Protocol in that format.

I’ll have to double check when I go again. It filled the screen which was more 16:9 or taller than the widescreen Birmingham one(that cropped Avengers top/bottom.

Any ‘shot immediately IMAX’ scene from other movies, always fill my 16:9 TV on blu- dark knight/rises, prior MCU movies, and appear to match what was shown at the cinema. I believe it’s digital though, (only 3 places in the country do 70mm)
Plus I thought the 1.43 was for IMAX documentaries and the 1.9/16:9 ratios were for movies.

Lol.
Am sure they didn’t care.

It’s still a nice gesture, treating them as people, welcoming them in, with food and drinks et

I see most MCU movies at least 5 times at the cinema.

In fact, I may only pay to see Infinity War and Ant-Man for the rest of the summer.

Ugh my local cinema will probably remove it from screens when Solo releases. Gotta do few more rewatches by then!

Your theater would be quite stupid to do that, unless they only have one screen.

If I was to ever go back to that theatre, I would need to have 100% concrete evidence that they also provided those guests with shower facilities beforehand. It’s already bad enough that those seats have come into contact with numerous people who CHOOSE not to cleanse themselves regularly. Those who CANNOT cleanse themselves regularly would be 100 times worse.
