Wal Mart is the best price at 17.96 (in store). Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but it is also an instawatch title. Scan your receipt for an HDX /UV/MA redemption. Keep your code (in case Fox ever allows Uhd redemptions) or sell it.

Honestly, the digital code stopped me from buying it today. Fox needs to figure out their 4k codes. If someone's buying a 4k disc/digital they should get digital 4k. I'll wait until black friday.

what was odd was it was partially still clipped to it's holder by 3 of the 4 pins, and there were no little broken plastic pieces i usually find rattling around in the case's of damaged disks, these hollowed out cheapo flimsy things are the worst, they actually benefit from the added protection of the slip, and that it came in a bubbleope didn't help

If you complain enough, they'll give it to you.

Had a closer look at this last night and it is a thing of beauty . The scene with bruce on the roof when he trys to radio for help (No shit lady does it sound like i'am ordering a pizza) The HDR really comes into play with the white light strobbing on McClane and all the rooftop lights and then all the sparks from the bullet hits.

When McClane's sitting down leaning against the wall to shoot the door lock to make his escape. You can see really clearly on the 4K thats he's weather big rubber feet.

Don't own a 4K player or 4K TV, but this might be the turning point where I bite... Can someone just tell me if the bluriness on the close up of Willis at the very start of the film ("Fists with your toes?") is still there. Not sure what that was, but I think it's been on every version of the film... Certainly the DVD and the older Blu-ray.

Amazon came through for me, got my copy today (along with Black Panther 4K Steelbook from Best Buy). Love coming home from a trip to some tasty UHDs

Yes. You'll be pleased to know all the blurry scenes are still there.

Despite my fears I decided to pick this up while I was at Walmart. I was going to get Black Panther but they didn't have any. I saw DH was only $17 and some change so I bit.

I've only watched a bit of it so far but it's as disappointing as I thought it would be. It is the best it's ever looked sure but only by a small margin. The trouble is they did a pretty poor job filming this movie so you don't have much to work with. So many scenes are soft or just plain out of focus it has a hard job looking like a 4K movie.

There are some nice looking shots obviously but the whole movie is hit and miss. The scene where Takagi is addressing the workers from the balcony for example looks like .... well I was going to say BD quality but it's not even that good. VHS quality. The scenes where the truck is driving down the street looks bad too. It's always looked bad but not even 4K can make an out of focus scene look good.

and what's with the sound? I usually have my volume set at around 15-18 for most movies I had to crank it up to 27 to get a normal volume.

My 2 cents if you're expecting it to look like a modern 4K you'll be disappointed if you're expecting the movie to look the best it's ever looked but only slightly then you'll be happy but I would wait till BF and get it for $10

Its still there. It must be on the negative same as the out of focus shot at the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

An excellent example of how much better the 4K UHD is compared to the Blu-ray.

Takagi speaking to the workers is an optical because of the titles overlaid onto the shot, as well as several other shots in the first few minutes of the film. They will always look poor. (We can see the same effect in the capsaholic shot of the burned in subtitles in Braveheart, it's several generations down so 4K can only do so much.)

What gear do you have? Panel display make/model/size? Speakers? Amplification?

The sound was fantastic at my standard volume in my set-up. Sincerely, the sound was better than I'd expected.

What do you mean by "modern 4K"?

I'm not going grab Die Hard 4K to show off the extreme limits of the performance of my home theater, but there won't be many 80s or 90s anamorphic 35mm which will meet that standard. That said, I can screen it and feel like I'm "at the movies".

I watched this last night. It is an improvement over previous versions but I was surprised there wasn't more of a jump in quality after the title sequence when I knew things were being softened by the opticals (a great example of a significant jump is the Universal 4K of The Mummy). There is a large portion of this movie that looks like it is constantly in that state, which was slightly disappointing.

Still loved the movie as always, but was hoping for a bit more AV wise.

So I already have all five Die Hard movies in HD in Vudu/Movies Anywhere (bought the DVD collection at Wal-Mart and it included all 5 in HD on VUDU).

Anyone know what happens if I redeem this digital copy when I already own an HD copy in my library? Or would I be better off re-selling my code on eBay? I know the packaging says the digital copy may not be in 4K anyways.

Can’t believe there are people unimpressed with this transfer. If this is a glimpse of what Fox has to offer for upcoming catalog titles, then by all means, gimmie HEAT as soon as possible!

The HDR for this release was absolutely outstanding. A pleasant surprise, in fact. Highlights, like interior lights, fluorescent lights, LED lights, and muzzle flashes, all look bright but also natural.

And colors like red, and the brief instances of purples and lighter hues of blues, look rich and vibrant.

No encoding issues that I could spot.

Great looking grain that is not over baked into the source.

Just an all around knockout from Fox for this film.

Die Hard has never looked so good.
