Lando takes priority as it can ride the coat-tails of Black Panthers success.

Yeah, I guess. But, not really. Lando is a cool character in the SW universe but what he did from Empire onward is FAR more interesting/relevant than anything before that. Right? I mean, hes in the Solo film which should be enough. But it is Disney and its NEVER enough.

Why stop there? What about Bail Organa? Shmi Skywalker? The other Bounty Hunters like Bossk and IG-88? Admiral Piett? Admiral Ozzel?

More, more...... MORE!!!!!

Disney are all over the place. They should do Spin-offs for characters people actually WANT to see.

In this case:

Obi-Wan - this is going to begin filming in Spring 2019, I am so happy that they are doing this one.

Darth Maul - I've really wanted this ever since I saw that canceled MAUL video game, which was supposed to be an origin story for him.

Darth Vader - We've all seen Rogue One. We've all seen the Prequels. Vader + Order 66 = Hunting down Jedi from planet to planet, much like the intro for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Disney probably wouldn't have the balls to do this one though.

Boba Fett - I honestly wouldn't mind if this happened. It was also the top rumor going around the internet along with the Obi-Wan spin-off rumor, and Obi-Wan was confirmed, so this may also be in the future. I wouldn't mind if it was set before the events of the Sarlacc, or after. As long as we get cameos from the other Bounty Hunters from TESB. It could also reflect that canceled video game Star Wars: 1313 which was about Bounty Hunters. Don't really mind, as long as we get more Boba.

Not one of popular demand by any means, but personally I'd like:

Qui-Gon Jinn - Have this set prior to TPM, where Obi-Wan is just a young boy much as Anakin was in TPM. I'd just love to see that and more their relationship/bonding.

Pretty sure this decision was influenced by the success of Black Panther. I just hope they find an interesting writer and director for this, because it seems like they're getting a bit over-the-top with this spin-off thing.

Sounds a hell of a lot better than TLJ.

I don't mind a Lando spin-off. I like the idea of a 70's -era type swaggy guy working his way through the empire's shenanigans to end up as the Administrator of Cloud City.

But hey, wild idea for those who think this is a waste: Don't watch it.

Every executive decision...

LucasFilm pitches to their corporate parent, just like Marvel, ABC, Pixar, all their other divisions, Iger trusts them, Alan Horn cuts the check, and then everyone moves on to all the other things on their plate. These guys in all these divisions run their own store. Iger only steps in when he's forced to, like the clash between Feige and Perlmutter at Marvel after Age of Ultron. Otherwise, Iger and his team are pretty busy with all the other things they have to deal with, and the film divisions are left alone -- they hire people they trust to take care of their own business specifically because they don't want to get involved and micro-manage. That's the point of hiring people in the first place. This isn't the Eisner era, where an insecure ego-maniac was watching dailies and demanding changes on even small properties. Iger isn't like that, it's not how the company rolls under his supervision. He leaves the divisions alone to do their thing and that leadership style has served him well. If you hire the right people in the first place, you don't need to be a helicopter exec, you get out of the way and let people do their thing. He's scheduled to step down, and I know a lot of people who are gonna miss him.

Vader flying from planet to planet murdering people. Doesn't sound like a story. Sounds more like a video game with a cheat code enabled. "Balls" have nothing to do with it. Horn cut the check for Avengers: Infinity War. Seems to have worked out. If LucasFilm can cook up a compelling story about Vader going full-Michael Meyers for two hours, go fo for it. I just don't see it.

Daw. I don't get the criticism it has been slayed with, but this comes from someone who thinks GOTG is a better SW movie than anything that SW has put out since the OT and don't have much invested in them other than killing a few hours and enjoying Oscar Isaac.

You're right a Yoda story from when he was young and the Jedi's from 100s of years ago would be interesting.

Heck I'd watch a story on Dexter Jettster. The guy in the diner during AOTC.

Outside of a potential Kenobi movie (which I can honestly take or leave at this point), I just can't find myself getting excited for any of these announced projects. Why can't they move on from this specific 40-60 year time period? No more stormtroppers, no more Tie fighters. No more Empire. I just want something NEW. Surely there are stories that can be told & more original characters to be created.

I think Rian Johnson would move on to another era but I'm skeptical of anything he does because of my thoughts on TLJ. Benioff & Weiss? Ooof.

If no one cared about getting more stories with these characters, then there never would have been an expanded universe of books, comics, and video games.

Some of that content was great, but a lot of it was not very good. Now it's all been relegated to "legends" status for a clean slate to make new canon. Disney is just choosing to make more of the new expanded universe into actual movies and not just print. As a movie lover, I think that's great!

I'd be more interested in a Lando spinoff than an Obi-Wan spinoff TBH. At least Lando is a character we spent relatively little time with, so there's more to learn and develop about him.

Why give the man less than 10 minutes of screen time in one movie and make a full movie about him?

If you've got a good story, a good character, and a terrific actor, why *wouldn't* they make a Lando movie? Why not? Go for it.
