AMC's "Fear The Walking Dead" (Season 8)

I think I'm going to let episodes 5-8 build up on my DVR until I watch them all in one go. While catching up to the show last month on Hulu I had a feeling that it would be way too slow to watch weekly, I was right.

Last nights episode was fine, not much to say.

Good point.

[Show spoiler]It is in fact just word at this point. The specific death hasn't been shown yet, so maybe Alicia assumed she died during whatever happened at the stadium but in reality she was able to escape. At this point it's not known for sure.

I hadn't thought about that.

Good episode, but I hate the flashback/present time back and forth scenes. It's not a Tarantino movie, it's a TV series. And seeing Nick alive when I know he's dead is like rubbing salt in the wound...

Again, I feel as we'll watch 4-5 episodes and still be at the beginning of the story again, like the non-linear TWD style. We are going forward, only to go deeper in the past. That's weird... And we lost the beautiful contracted colors, only to go back to a TWD de-saturated palette.

I'm trying me best to be on board, but I'm not convinced about the drastic change fro FTWD. I loved Season 3 so much, and now... I feel like it's not FTWD at all, but another spin of show. To be continued...

Yeah, I'm right there with you on this one. I'm not disliking these episodes but they just aren't hooking me like seasons 2 and 3 did while I was catching up.

To be completely honest, I think I need a break from anything and everything TWD lol. I'm just so dried up between the comics, main show and now Fear. I'm going to let the remainder of the first half of Season 4 record before I continue watching the show.

The thing I like about Fear is they show new shit. Last season there was the whole post-apocalyptic trade/barter center, the one episode where they were trapped in the bunker was very Day of the Dead-ish, last episode with the carnival zombies etc.

Meanwhile in TWD they're still running around in the same forest.

I'm with you, the back and forth flashback stuff is really wearing on me. And the washed out colors are really annoying me. I keep feeling I need to change the color settings on my 4K TV when those scenes play.

Ratings in order from season 4 premiere to this weeks episode:

4.09, 3.07, 2.71 and 2.49

The lowest of season 3 was 1.99 million, things seem to be staying above 2 million at least.

That scene with Alycia and Naomi in the fun park.... retarded....

Two bimbos decide to wade through a pool of zombies and climb a long high slippery slope that if they slip sends then sliding at a violent speed back into the pool of zombies.... Not to mention the question of what is lurking at the top of the slide...

Or they could have cleared the furniture blockading the stairway and climbed up in a safe and secure manner....

Yeah... nuff said.


I also cringed at the "let's pick a new home by randomly opening the page of the map".... how about if you are gonna find a new home, you look through the map for an ideal location based on the various factors needed to survive and prosper, and pick that one.... And I really liked when, after they had picked a random location, Lucia wondered out loud if it would have good soil for food... after they were already starving due to bad soil...

Granted they modified that plan, but

Yeah... nuff... said.....

And then the woe is me fest at the end. If only I'd followed my bad nature, if only I'd gone to my random map location, if only... blah blah blah what trash writing.

Excellent backstory episode with John and Naomi(Laura). John Dorie is fastly becoming my favorite character in this show.
Writers are doing an incredible job with all the different timelines. The different color schemes for each one is a great touch.

I'm really enjoying this season. I like the new characters and I think it's better with only limited Madison.

Perhaps if the season was presented in chronological order omitting the flashbacks, the story would be perceived better?

It gets really jarring when the episode is constantly switching between past and present.

Not to mention, with

[Show spoiler]Nick dead in the present storyline but having Nick alive in the past storyline does nothing as we all know whatever path he continues his character ends of dead anyway...

The solo John Dorie episode was straight up TWD trait. Complete filler, but somewhat needed. Not to mention the end with the group splitting up is another TWD trait coming to Fear.

With Nick's death, I don't feel the urge to watch the show anymore. It's recorded, but I don't know when I'll watch the episode. I guess I'm kinda dropping the show...
