So, can anyone sell me on this blu? From the few things I've read online it sounds like one of those "so bad it's good" blatant rip-off movies.

There has also already been two pressings of the movie (even though they're both still in stock online)??!

A weird one indeed.

So this is a case of haha guys, I've got it, I know you want it, but you can't have it. This is like high school B.S.

So is Bill also lying when he says the music hasn’t been cleared?

Not being argumentative, just genuinely curious. I’ve never seen the movie and would love to.

I’d actually put more faith in Demon Dave getting it out. Fingers crossed.

I don't think THE FARMER was even released on VHS. I'll guarantee Tarantino has his own 35mm print of this.

It's honestly one of the worst "slashers" you'll ever see. $5 bin at Wal-Mart is still too expensive for this garbage.

As far as i know it was only ever given an extremely limited release in the US at drive ins. Never got released outside the US and never made it to any home format.

A lot of people around here enjoyed it. Personally it's my least favorite release I've bought over the last few years. It's not a so bad it's good, it's a so bad it's just bad. It's a shameless rip-off of Halloween with zero tension, off screen kills, a killer who is not imposing or scary and a really bad attempt at John Carpenters score. I love a lot of trash, this one I could do with out. The transfer is not good, it's not DF fault, it seems that is what they were given as 88 Films transfer is the same. At $14 it's a great price to blind buy though and it does have one fun scene involving a fat bumbling cop and shit head little kid.

There are not two different pressings, its the same pressing with different cover art.

My guess on this - Dark Force initially had Kino distributing their product. That relationship ended, however. It is possible Kino and/or their focus group felt the artwork of the initial batch of Dark Force titles was underwhelming. So, to respond to this Dark Force improved the art. That seems to make most sense for totally redoing the art.

In any case, I actually like the artwork of the original Offerings disc (the one on sale) better than the newer version due to that weird red border on the new one. On the other hand, I like the art of the newer Drive in 2 better than the original Drive in 2, as the original drive in 2 art was too cluttered and distorted - also while it was nice having an image from The Bride's theatrical poster art, the lack of color made it hard to see exactly what that was supposed to be.

I actually enjoyed Offerings for the shameless Halloween rip-off that it is. What everyone is saying is accurate though... I just have bad taste.

I'll be happy to clear this up. OFFERINGS was the first single release from Dark Force and CHAOS drive-in double feature was the first drive-in release. We really had no idea how things were gonna go with the distribution. Bill arranged for the first three Dark Force releases to go through Kino under his deal. We had no idea what was gonna happen. Fortunately we were able to simultaneously do well with the social media and the numbers on the sales with Kino were very good. The initial pressings of OFFERINGS and the 2nd drive in release with HOUSE ON EDGE OF PARK both sold out and we needed to do second pressings for Kino. I was never happy with the back of the first OFFERINGS box because the pic ended up printing too dark. One of the kinks we learned quickly with the box art. So I decided to fix that on the second pressing and wanted to start doing the numbered spines. After the first three releases through KINO did extremely well we did not want to continue under Bill's deal. At the same time we were doing extremely well with the sales from the Dark Force online store. There are many drawbacks for companies like us and Code Red when going through big store distributors...too many to list here. Fortunately these times we are able to do the sales direct through our own outlet and other online stores such as Diablolik and Ronin with more suitable terms. In the process we also learned a great deal about the transfers and restoration processes that is why there has been a big progression in the quality of the Dark Force releases going forward. Like any good machine we just had to work some of the kinks out of it.

Are you planning on releasing anything in the next month?

Preferably something with Corey Haim or Andrew "Dice" Clay, so I can put in a few more orders in for the VINEGAR SYNDROME Halfway to Black Friday Sale.

Gotta get those highly collectible, collectors item slipcovers before OOP FleaBay scalper prices, you feel me?

No...it's not. No music rights issues. No IRS issues. Nothing of any legal nature prohibiting the release of the film.

The next two coming out in June are the 4th drive-in release with GOD'S BLOODY ACRE (newly remastered) and SO SAD ABOUT GLORIA and the 4th single edition release THE BACKLOT MURDERS (new HD scan with scene by scene correction) with all new commentary by the director and special guest the Banana Man and all new interviews with Charles Fleischer, Brian Gaskill and Carrie Stevens
