No probs, and I agree with you entirely on the socio-political platform and that you need a female star who is both credible and charismatic and imo Ronda back then would have been disastrously wooden as an action lead from the little acting I'd seen her do by that point. Maybe a few years in the pantomime show that is the WWE will see her develop as an actress.

She's gonna be in Peter Berg's upcoming 22 Mile. We'll see how that goes.

She'll probably be OK in that, Berg's pretty good at coaxing naturalistic performances out of inexperienced actors imo.

Same thoughts. It's Berg, so we'll probably get her best performance here.

So basically riding somebody else's coattails can produce really good work or really bad work? Just like any other type of creative endeavor?

And I'm still a little unclear why we're even talking about riding somebody else's coattails with regard to Dan Aykroyd and The Blues Brothers. He co-founded the act and co-wrote and co-starred in the movie.

It's his own work we're talking about, no?

edit: oh, and the new Star Wars movies are awesome.

Clearly, you did not even bother to read the quote you're responding to or you did and just don't care because you're twisting my words around to benefit you.

If it's not clear to you, then I doubt that it never will be.

I really can't wait to see how the masses react to a female version of this. Will it be Ghostbusters 2016 or more like oceans 8?

I always loved Dan Aykroyd as an actor, but if he wants to give his blessing for a female BLUES BROTHERS remake, let him.

Best idea since Blues Brothers 2000, and I say that without sarcasm.

Yet another all female reboot? Seriously, why? Why not just do something original if you absolutely need to have an all female cast? If this does happen, watch it fail just as hard as Ghostbusters a couple years back.

I'm waiting for an announcement to remake The Wizard of Oz with a male Dorothy (Chris Hemsworth), a pet cat Toto, and female Tin Woman (Kate McKinnon), Lioness (Leslie Jones), and Scarecrow (Kristen Wiig). Oh and Oz would be Melissa McCarthy.

At least Ocean's 8 doesn't erase the trilogy, and just spins off on it with Sandra Bullock being Clooney's sister. I can hang with that. Ghostbusters 2016 remade the original film, threw in lousy improv to mix with their unfunny written sketches, and the original GUYS were mere cameos playing different characters.

If Blues Babes or whatever, acknowledge the other films as canon, then its already half way to winning unlike Ghostbusters.

What did I twist, exactly?

Were you not suggesting that riding somebody else's coattails could be done creatively and not lazily?

And speaking of not bothering to read things, I'm going to ask - again - why we're even talking about riding somebody else's coattails with respect to Dan Aykroyd and The Blues Brothers.

They're his coattails, no?

A) No. Aykroyd was pretty clearly describing a sequel and not a reboot.

B) Even if it was a reboot that would bring the total of all female reboots to what? Two?

Let's ask it a different way.

If Aykroyd absolutely needs to make another Blues Brothers movie is there any reason the new characters in that movie absolutely need to have penises?

Or is that optional?

Oh, you know what they could do instead? The could remake The Wizard of Oz with an all black cast. And then we wait, I dunno, twenty or thirty years to see if the world ends.

And if it doesn't then we can all just relax.

Dan would give his blessing to a Citizen Kane remake if you'd let Claire Foster Kane drop Crystal Head Vodka during her final moments ...

They did. It was called Song of the South. Ironically, years later, the world ended and people started to become super sensitive and call it out as racist, preventing any blu-ray release.

LOL, yup. If the last forty years has taught us anything it's that playing the guy hawking the Bass-O-Matic wasn't a stretch for him

Agreed. I usually post some dry humor when I see it. (Not talking about you of course, just in general on the various movie threads). It seems to be everywhere and it's so strange to me.
