The Sony consoles are the bottom 3, it's pretty much a disaster in term of market share (even the PS2 becomes irrelevant, despite -i'm sure- it's good margin in $$).
The price cut can't come too soon imo.

Really?

According to which people. I always figured Nov and Dec would be much the same as Nintendo were cranking out Wiis as quick as possible pre Xmas, and it sold 2m in Nov. I doubted their ability to suddenly increase supply from 2m to 3m in such a short period of time.

Dec 2008 vs Dec 2007:

PS2 - 410k vs 1.1m
PS3 - 726k vs 798k
PSP- 1.02m vs 1.06 million
DS - 3.04m vs 2.47m
Wii - 2.15m vs 1.35m
360 - 1.44m vs 1.26m

All Sony h/w down, everyone else up.

Here is the link to the article which had wii selling 3.25 mil in December NPD. Guess Michael Pachter was wrong (though that doesn't surprise me)

It's pretty much right what I expected. Sony down somewhat, 360 up somewhat, Wii supply constrained again (can't sell 2 million in November without selling out most of the existing stock).

Don't really understand the DS, but never really have.

Whats the worldwide LTD position, does anyone know?

Obviously most interweb sites are a touch US-centric so this whole console war is very much skewed towards 360.

yeh its not that wii wouldn't have sold 3 mill its that they didn't have 3 mill units. they are still nowhere to be found everywhere i go. its sad but if there was 5 mill units a month they would sell that. 10 mill they would probably sell that too...

I wouldn't go that far anymore.

For most of November the Wii was finally not supply constrained. They were *everywhere*.

Black Friday sucked them all up sure, but I'll be surprised if the Supply constraint continues very far into the new year, unless Nintendo stops all production.
