After Black Panther, I am considering not buying any more Disney UHDs—even for movies I want—until they get their audio issues squared away.

Same here only issue is the titles will still sell well enough that unless somekne smacks them upside their heads to say your Atmos audio mixes are blah they will never do anything about them.

Makes me wonder were many of their 5.1 and 7.1 blu mixes of oldee BLUs quieter also?

I've still got the Future Shop exculsive MetalPack that also holds 3 discs, so I'll just repackage the 4K set in that packaging as I prefer it to the new steelbook.

The UHD has the original sound mix on there as well, so even if you don't like the Atmos remix there is NO reason not to buy it.

How many non-Atmos, lossless mixes will be included?

What I want to know is if it carries over the bonus disc. Or if I need to save that from my current edition.

Ok, I missed those pics. Has there been a Blu-ray or 4K release with both Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio? I'd have thought that any given release that has Atmos would have Dolby TrueHD.

I already have the BD, which is a pretty good reason. Especially if the new audio mix is going to be a step backwards.

The original doesn't have HEVC, 10-bit color and HDR. All of which are on the UHD and you can play the DTS-HD MA 5.1 ES track with.

Warner has (stupidly IMO) redundant DTS-MA 5.1 tracks on a lot of their UHD & BDs with native Atmos mixes, which is a waste of space & bandwidth.

Sony has the original 5.1 DTS-MA on several UHD discs with Atmos remixes.

True, and while we’re pointing out the obvious I’ll also point out that animated movies tend not to get quite the dramatic upgrade as live-action films on UHD. The BD still looks amazing on my Oppo/OLED.

If I’m desperate to watch the 4K version I’ll gladly wait for it to be dirt cheap or pick up a digital code on the trading forums here, since the lower quality audio you get from streaming doesn’t matter much when it comes to Disney titles. But I sure won’t do what the guy was suggesting on the last page and buy the movie just to support Disney on UHD.

The HDR and 10-bit color on Cars 3 and Coco make the discs look like 3D without the glasses, if I may use a bit of hyperbole. Something I never quite got from the Blu-ray versions (not to mention a bit of banding here and there).
Also Blu-rays are still not quite 2K. Almost, but not quite. There's some room for improvement, even on 2K masters.

exactly

also, the Dolby Vision color's from Cars 3 are eye searing. Why Pixar aren't encoding Dolby Vision on the UHD's while Marvel is, is beyond me (?)

Dolby Vision would really help make up for the tragic audio mixes. Surprised it was left out here since it seemed like Disney was fully on board.

granted it wasn't a box office success, even 'A Wrinkle in Time' wasn't granted Dolby Vision on it's UHD disc release. Disney Home Video, you vex me!
