Well they've got until 2018 or early 2019 to figure all that out before production ramps into high gear and they'll have access to digital mock ups to get a sense of scale between the different ideas.

What's actually I think more important is for them to nail down a solid script that makes sense and then work out what scale they need Kong to be from that point and work it into a model that makes sense.

GODZILLA VS. KONG SET IN PRESENT DAY!!

Director Adam Wingard spoke with Slashfilm.com briefly about GvK during an interview about Death Note. When asked about whether the film will pick up in the 70’s after Skull Island’s events, Wingard said this:

"No, ours is more in continuity with the sequel to Godzilla right now. They’re doing Godzilla 2 with Mike Dougherty directing, so our film is in present day. We have a couple characters from Godzilla 2 in ours, but it’ll be interesting to see how Kong has fared over the years. You see him in that film and he’s just constantly under attack. Things are going wrong and there’s probably been lots of human intervention since then. It’ll be interesting to see a more rugged, a bit more aged Kong in this film."

GODZILLA VS. KONG BEGINS FILMING THIS FALL!

Director Adam Wingard will reportedly begin filming Godzilla vs. Kong this Fall for Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures - beginning October 1st, 2018 in Atlanta and continuing through to February 2019. Currently eyeing a May 22nd, 2020 release date.

Julian Dennison Joins ‘GODZILLA VS KONG’



Julian Dennison has joined the cast of 2020’s Godzilla vs Kong. The 16-year old New Zealander recently starred as Firefist in Deadpool 2 and was first introduced to the masses as Ricky Baker in Taika Waititi’s 2016 film Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

Dennison will have a supporting role along stars Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler. The studio also has an offer out to Academy Award winning actress Frances McDormand to fill a lead role. Godzilla vs Kong is set to film in Atlanta this fall, with the studio now eyeing a November start.

Don't really care who they cast, the human characters are pretty far down the list of reasons I wanna see this.

I really like the cast for Godzilla, King of the Monsters; Kyle Chandler, Charles Dance and especially Vera Farmiga. That being said, I have to agree that the human cast is nearly always eclipsed by the monsters in these films.

As much as I enjoyed the 2014 Godzilla overall, even the presence of such terrific actresses as Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins and Elizabeth Olsen made little or no impression; I would never have guessed at their true talent if I'd only ever seen them in Godzilla.

They already did. Kong: Skull Island took place in the 70's and Reilly's character said that Kong was just a baby. 40 years later and he'll be a full grown adult. Figured that was pretty obvious.
