A flaw?
With 5.1 there is no matrix and no discrete. It's gotta be 6.1 or no cigars. |

From the old BR review right here:
"Note that while the primary audio track registers as a DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 surround mix, the actual track is a 5.1 channel ES mix (as the back coverart and main menu accurately state). The additional channel is matrixed by way of the right and left surrounds. It is not a discrete channel, meaning the track is not a true 6.1 mix." My Walmart also didn’t have it on the front case but the spot was on the side with the 4Ks but there was none on the shelf so I looked online and it said they had it in stock so I asked an employee if they could look for me and said he didn’t feel like it so I ordered it for in store pick up right in front of him, it’s been 5 hours no and my order still isn’t ready

You don't have to, most TVs come with integrated stereo speakers.

![]() Point being, a matrixed rear surround really is a thing whether you believe in it or not, this isn't Sanity Clause or the Easter Bunny we're talking about here. The effect still works extremely well, given that the DSPs in AVRs these days can extract 7.1 from an Lt/Rt 2.0 mix, never mind a simple phase shift to extract a rear surround from left and right. Sheesh, it's how Dolby Digital EX actually WORKED in the cinema before the discrete 7.1 theatrical formats came into play, as well as on DVDs which had no discrete EX option for Dolby Digital at all, only matrixed. |

Just finished watching and wanted to post a few quick thoughts.
The PQ was great. It really shined especially the green of the leaves and the water. I've never watched it on BD so I don't know how it does comparison-wise. Either way, I loved the PQ. I'm no audiophile at all, but since getting our atmos soundbar, I have a tendency to compare all audio to Batman vs Superman's. Since I've only got what I call half atmos sound, I don't get the full on experience. I'd like to think I get a decent one. Anyway, using Batman vs. Superman to compare with, the sound is okay. Just not great. There are so many great moments when having that detailed sound would really make this UHD a thing of beauty, but as has been said, Disney continues to take what I think are cheap shortcuts. The subwoofer boomed in all the right places, but that's probably about as good as it got which isn't saying much. I really don't think they're doing it for the soundbar crowd. IMO, they'd rather spend their money on visuals and not care so much about the audio side of films. They may think that most folks care only about the visuals. Anyway...PQ - 4.5 and AQ - 3 Still a great fun movie to watch. |
