Awesome news! Just ordered "Don't Bother To Knock" last week and looking forward to receiving it Monday. Hopefully "The Prince and the Showgirl" is next in line for release.

oildude, I tried to pre-order at both the sites you posted, but this title doesn't show up. Any idea when it will be available in their systems? It's less than three weeks away from the release date. Thanks.

Doh! That's embarrassing. Thanks for following up, Thomas. I was looking at oildude's initial post when I wrote my reply and skimmed past his second post. Yes, I see the date now!

This is a day one purchase for me. My wife and I love this film, and I feel confident, given Fox's recent run of Monroe releases, that this will look substantially better in HD than it did in SD.

Don't get why TCF keeps releasing Marilyn Monroe on niche limited release pressings and not on their own through their website. I get some smaller releases, but Marilyn's films? I'm not dropping $30 on these, especially with minimal extras and remastering.

Hopefully Kino or someone will pick these up later on.

I hear you on this, Servo. I'm diving in simply because Fox has done a great job of preparing masters for their Monroe films up to now, and I don't think they'll drop the ball with what they give to TT for this. Also, it looks like it's coming out with a good set of extras.

It does seem odd that Monroe is getting a limited release here, but while my wife and I both love this film, it's not usually listed in Monroe's top or most well-known films. Maybe this is just the market for it now. It seems all the biggies are licensing out their older catalogs, saving only the most prestigious and well-known titles for themselves.

EDIT: I mixed up the extras on TT's Don't Bother to Knock release, which were good, with those on this one. You're right, Servo. The extras on this release are minimal. Bummer. It's still worth it for me for the film and the upgrade to Blu-ray. But I do wish there was more to sweeten the deal.

Oh, my poor wallet, but I'm a Marilyn completist, so what else was I supposed to do? LOL I'm not risking holding out on Kino this time.

I wish the Forever Marilyn set included ALL of her starring films owned by Fox and MGM. I don't know why they just picked the seven they did...

I made some other orders, and so I'm still waiting on this. Can anyone report on how it looks and sounds? I'm seeing no reviews for it yet.

I got mine in. Looks pretty good to me, but I'm probably not the best judge for A/V quality...

This is the only review I've found on this one so far, and it's not overly enthusiastic: https://www.hometheaterforum.com/com...lu-ray.357959/

Here's a second review, for anyone who's interested. It doesn't say much about the A/V quality, though it does give the PQ 4 stars out of 5, the audio a bit higher: https://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/73169/lets-make-love/

For me, it's not a matter of if I will buy this but when. I had originally thought it would be an immediate purchase. There are others higher on my list now. I think I'll wait for this one to drop in price a bit.

The box set came out about 5 years into the format. It is possible the other films had not received the treatment yet.

The price was also set at $100. While it quickly saw drastic reductions, the initial expectation was a fairly expensive set for the non-collector type.

I think we got spoiled getting the 7 titles for the cost of what TT is selling this single title for.

If the cover wasn't so terrible I'd probably just bite the bullet and buy it. Hopefully another company gets Ladies of the Chorus.

Looks like this release was announced way back in 2017, and finally coming out Oct. 2021.

I saw that. I'm very interested to know if this will be an improvement on the TT release, which was pretty mediocre, hardly much better than my old DVD. I'm hoping the long wait on this UK ed. is because they were digging up a better print and/or working on a better scan.

It's very likely to be the same master that TT used.

Bummer. Oh, well. It's serviceable, and at least I won't have to buy another copy that way.
