Great to see this coming, Gene Wilder flicks are sadly lacking in the UK on BD.

Would be great to see any of these get domestic releases, all available in other regions:

Silver Streak
Stir Crazy
See No Evil, Hear No Evil
The Adventure Of Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother
The Woman In Red
Haunted Honeymoon

In need of a BD debut:

The Frisco Kid
Hanky Panky
Funny About Love
Another You

Both of these would be very welcome - Streak features Richard Kiel, and it's also the first pairing of Wilder with Pryor.

That scene at the rail station where Wilder 'blacks up' with shoe polish is hilarious: Wilder even bursts out laughing when delivering a line

From the imdb.com trivia section regarding that scene:

[Show spoiler]When the scene where Grover (Richard Pryor) puts the shoe polish on George's (Gene Wilder's) face to make him appear to be black was first filmed, a white man walked in and believed George was black. Richard Pryor was uncomfortable with the scene, and felt it would be funnier if a black man walked in and is not fooled at all. Pryor asked Arthur Hiller for a re-shoot, but Hiller refused. Pryor walked off the set and refused to return to filming until the scene was changed. Hiller relented and Pryor's idea was used for the final cut.

Is this a different scan/restoration than the U.S. Shout release?

I knew that StudioCanal would do a release. Here's some clips from Fathom that use the new master...

There's a big screen one day re-release on August the 5th. I've never seen it on the big screen.
Easily my favourite comedy of all time. I should be immune to it by now but it still cracks me up every time I see it.

It looks more yellow / golden in color tone than the Shout master (which I suppose was provided by MGM).

The Shout release is a StudioCanal master AFAIK, it's got their copyright and logos on the packaging.

Correct. StudioCanal controls the majority of Embassy Pictures’ library with MGM having US distribution rights for their more well known titles (The Producers, This is Spinal Tap, The Graduate etc.)

Isn’t StudioCanal kind of well-known for preferring yellow/golden color tones in their restorations over the last few years? Or am I thinking of a different company... well, regardless, those YouTube clips definitely look very, very warm.

The Producers (50th Anniversary Edition)

Quote:
Mel Brooks’s comedy masterpiece, The Producers - widely regarded as one of the funniest films ever - has been stunningly restored in 4K.

Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel) is a washed up Broadway producer forced to romance old ladies to finance his plays. When timid accountant Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder) is brought in to do his books, he inadvertently reveals to Bialystock that under the right circumstances, a producer could make more money with a flop than a hit. Bialystock cajoles Bloom into helping him achieve this end and together they come up with what they consider to be a sure-fire disaster waiting to happen – a musical version of Adolf and Eva’s love story entitled ‘Springtime For Hitler’. But is it possible that they might actually have the most unlikely hit of all time on their hands?

SPECIAL FEATURES

• Q&A with Mel Brooks and TCM host Ben Mankiewicz from the TCM Classic Film Festival 2018
• Tempo episode with Zero Mostel
• Making of The Producers
• Paul Mazursky reads Peter Sellers ad
• Sketch gallery slideshow
• Deleted Scenes
• Soundtrack Spoofs
• The Producers trailer

I'm not sure myself as the few StudioCanal/Optimum titles I own are in mostly in B&W with Cross of Iron and The Driver being exceptions; both look pretty great to me. I'm 99% sure that MGM provided Shout with their own master rather than from StudioCanal (MGM has North American rights to the majority of Embassy Pictures titles; whom StudioCanal owns their library) and a lot of older MGM masters rarely had anybody from the films involved with their transfers. MGM would usually favor a more "neutral" and "natural" color timing. I'll certainly say that this new master "pops" out a lot more than Shout's.

Is it likely that Shout would release the newly restored version in the US?

It could be like a Lifeforce situation (New remaster gets a new disc) but honestly having a region free player is the way to go.
