Lots of boutique labels have spotty records with subs. Even Criterion is at fault here when it comes to having subs for English dialog in multi-lingual films. In films like Carlos or Wings of Desire, there is no option of subtitles for the dialog spoken in English.

After what seemed like a truly bizarre group of delivery delays, I finally received my copy of The Return of Swamp Thing from Target through UPS.

I really love the aesthetic of these releases. Looking forward to receiving Lionheart in a few weeks.

I have Savannah Smiles en route now; be nice to get that missing gap in numbers. But what I'm really looking forward to is that one-two punch of Abominable and Lionheart. Both preordered from Diabolik. If you want an MVD title early, order from DiabolikDVD.com.

Definitely looking forward to Lionheart & Abominable. And Split Second is a favorite of mine.

I do wonder if the Split Second will be based on the Oliver Krekel blu-ray overseas (if you don't know Oliver Krekel...whew...I'm sure some folks could tell stories about him...especially his monstrosity of Moontrap on Blu-Ray which is heartbreaking considering I'm a fan of that flick).

Warning Sign from 1985 is a film that I never understood why it doesn't have a Blu-Ray release. It's a great, underrated movie. (granted, this did have a DVD release but it is out of print).

Stuff like Murder By Phone aka Bells with Richard Chamberlain, Night Life from 1989 starring the kid from Critters 1 & 2, and Blue Monkey would be great. And sadly none of those even got a DVD release.

And especially some love for Jeff Speakman. Jeff Speakman did two films called Deadly Outbreak & Street Knight but unfortunately they are only on VHS. I thought they were pretty fun action films. Deadly Outbreak in particular is one that I wished had a blu-ray release...but I doubt it ever will cause no one even knows about the flick.

Drive with Mark Dacascos is a highly underrated action picture, and that's another that would be nice to see a Blu-Ray one day.

Watchers 1 & 2 would be nice but I'm guessing that if they do, it'll be from Vestron or some other group.

MVD, any chance you can get Undefeatable (1994)? One of the best movies to enjoy with a few beers.

@ MVD Rewind GuyI remember you saying that Surf II was already with another label, is the film with a major studio or a boutique label? What do you think the chances are that this label will release the movie on blu-ray ? Thanks man !

Unless it's no longer with WB/New Line, it's not gonna happen.

Anything is possible, but I am not certain the fanbase is there to warrant Shout looking in to acquiring it.

Though I would snap it up day one.

I think Warner Archive is more likely to release this.

It's a well made horror film that surpasses it's budget with solid acting (from most), direction, practical special effects, and atmosphere. Tiffany Shepis also has a nude scene, which is never unwelcome. It's just one of those rare mid-2000s horror movies that's actually awesome but doesn't get much attention. I bought the DVD from Anchor Bay day 1 and showed it to all my horror fan friends and they all thought it was pretty damn excellent. Hopefully with this release, it will gain a new appreciation. I'm curious to see what changes were made to the special effects, as the CGI in the original release was pretty terrible.
Originally shot on 35mm, Abominable makes it HD debut featuring a brand new high definition transfer from the original camera negative and an ALL-NEW cut of the film with improved CGI-effects overseen by Director Ryan Schifrin and Editor Chris Conlee with enhanced color timing and correction and in this fully loaded collector’s edition set!

Thank you for the insight ! Even though I haven't seen the film it will be interesting to see what the special effects will look like in this new presentation of the movie.

For some reason amazon has the release for Lionheart date as June 19th and not the 12th so I canceled it and ordered it from Bestbuy I’ll get it on release day for the same price.

Not sure if MVD are just running out of stuff on Amazon or what the deal is...but the pre-orders on Lionheart and Abominable Blu-rays were back in May. They were supposed to come out around June 12th.

But now? Each one is arriving 'July 30th-July 31st'. So I have zero idea on what the deal is.
