+1 I've received equally shi*y customer service from both stores.

That is just wrong! They should pay you your normal rate. A-holes.

Best Buy wont be going any where... they have let people go at a corporate level but none at a store level. And now with CC gone people will most likely turn to BB for their shopping

Guess it really depends on where you live for these two stores. I live in the NW, and everyone at CC are rude, slow, and could care less that you're there, but my BB is educated in their departments, friendly, helpful and quick, yet someone on the east coast my tell you CC has the best service and BB sucks. I'd say every store works as well as its management trains you, but I know from me, no matter how bad I'm trained, I still couldn't be a dick to my customers.... guess that's why I have no pitty on the CC stores here closing. Even if you don't know your product, you can still be nice and helpful to your best ability. Not CC here!!! (and its that way for most CC stores here, not just one store). SO LONG CC STAFF, YOU EARNED IT! (Sad for those few who did try).

Liquidation begins tomorrow!!!!!

http://www.circuitcity.com

Circuit City is one of the largest retail bankruptcies in the current U.S. recession and its demise paves the way for larger rival Best Buy Inc to boost sales and gain clout with suppliers as the leading electronics retailer.
The No. 2 retail player in U.S. electronics said it planned to begin liquidation on Saturday.
"Regrettably for the more than 30,000 employees of Circuit City and our loyal customers, we were unable to reach an agreement with our creditors and lenders to structure a going-concern transaction ... and so this is the only possible path for our company," Vice Chairman

Initially, not cheap since it's a discontinued item and the liquidator will discount from the full MSRP rather than retail price. But the cheapest I've seen it go for is $200 during the final 2 weeks of sale.

Depending on that weeks/months business and what the price difference was, I would match amazon prices.

The generic answer/store policy is they don't match online prices but depending on each scenario, I would do it now and then.

If the customer wanted a digital SLR for instance, and my price was $1,000 and they had some print out from some place in NY nobody had ever heard of for like $650, I'm not matching that ever.

But if the price difference was $100 and they were buying other items for the camera, I'd do it.

Based on the article from cnn.com

http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/16/news...ex.htm?cnn=yes

"The company said it will redeem its gift cards through the liquidation sale, but the cards will have no value once the stores are closed."

"The retailer's Web site and call center will cease to operate after Jan. 18."

It sounds like per the last quote the sales will be in store not online.

Not a huge fan of CC, but one, too bad about the jobs, and two, too bad about competition. Competition between BB and CC helped to created better sale prices, etc, for everyone. With only really BB around, they don't have to be as cheap anymore. And there are plenty of times I got a better deal at CC instead of BB. Heck, just the other day I was looking for some little speaker part, at BB it was Monster only and $30. At CC they had the same thing, non-Monster, for $4.

Look at what happened when Gamestop and EB merged. Less competition/sales there too. More choices is better for everyone. What if all that was left was Walmart? (Ugh!) Sorry to hear about this.

Yeah forgot to mention that. I got my regular pay check with my normal pay, but the severance will come in one big check with all my hours with the $1.25 times all the hours I worked from Nov 5.- Dec 22.
