I guess I don’t mind duplicates. It’s not ideal, but I am already double dipping on eight films, so... I’d probably just sell or give away the extra discs. How many dupes would there be?

This would be like if Marvel did a similar set, and put copies of The Avengers inside the Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America boxes. ;^_^

Already have the other Legacy sets, will just add Creature & Invisible Man to them. At least we're getting these, was worried after the Mummy remake bombed and Universal chucked the whole "Dark Universe" franchise down the drain (understandably).

I'm all about consolidation at this point.....I'll probably sell my Essential 8-film collection, my A&C Meet the Monsters DVD set and my A&C Meet Frankenstein and ...Meet the Mummy BD's and buy this set. save space and no need for duplicate disks at this point in my life.

I believe the duplicates come to:
- House of Frankenstein (3)
- House of Dracula (3)
- Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (3)
- Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (2)

11 in total.

It's really too bad they didn't also do volume sets after the first Universal Monsters Collection. That would have completely eliminated the overlapping issue the Legacy sets have.

Volume II could have had

Son of Frankenstein
The Ghost of Frankenstein
Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man
House of Frankenstein
House of Dracula
Werewolf of London
She-Wolf of London

Volume III could have had:

Dracula's Daughter
Son of Dracula
The Mummy's Hand
The Mummy's Tomb
The Mummy's Ghost,
The Mummy's Curse
Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy

and Volume IV could have had:

Revenge of the Creature
The Creature Walks Among Us
The Invisible Man Returns
The Invisible Woman
The Invisible Agent
The Invisible Man's Revenge
Abbott & Costello Meet the Invisible Man

Agreed, for those wanting all movies, but it would have opened another can of worms in the ranks of those wanting some monster but not all. Within any combination above, invariably someone would not be happy with the mix.

Personally, I have no complaints as long as the price is fair and it takes a minimal of space overall, which (IMO) the current offerings do.

So, on 24 discs, 7 are duplicates, making it truly a 17-Disc set. Depending on the size of the box-set, I might do some custom covers with multiple disc cases to save more space...

I have 3 x 6 inches bookcases for my movies, And I can't expand with another one, that's the reason why I'm doing so many spacesaver covers!

Monster-themed sets are the way to go. I really don't get the hand-wringing over duplicates. Each Legacy set is barely thicker than a standard case, so space isn't an issue. The sets can be had for under $25 apiece (I don't think I've paid much more than $20 for any of them), so price isn't an issue. Some people like to complain, is all.

Can I complain against you, complaining about us, complaining about a set not even released yet? We are the OCD members here!

Anyway, I can turn that 6 standard sized sets to only a 3 cases of multiple discs, saving half the size. That's better IMO.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I have some 300+ TV series and 2000+ movies and I built multiple wall units to hold them all. I built my last one a few years back and I swore off building any more. Since that time I've saved an incredible amount of space consolidating TV seasons in multi-disk cases, which occupy half my total space. The current blu-ray cases used aren't bad space wise, but you could get two 10 disk cases and do custom covers to conserve the most space. While I've made custom covers myself before, I was really hoping someone would do truly professional looking job for these by now, especially given the duplication issue. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any, but maybe now that a complete set is coming out and all disks will be known someone will do it.

I suppose the "Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Set" is as good a place as another to start with for making new covers to support consolidated cases with no duplicates. I have two empty 9 disk blu-ray cases sitting around that I could use.

Half of those are out in Europe using older masters. I think there is a good chance Universal will create new masters of those within the next few years.

I checked the existing sets and what is currently stated for the two new individual sets, and it looks like there will be 19 distinct disks (20 if you include Phantom of the Opera).

Yeah, they've been available overseas, for YEARS. I own these laser box sets. Dying to upgrade.

I have these on blu-ray from Europe:
- Tarantula
- The Land Unknown
- The Incredible Shrinking Man
- This Island Earth

But again, based on older masters. While better than DVD, they probably won't compare to what Universal can provide with new masters.

Would be great to get these.

I just have to add how sweet it would be to get the Technicolor lushness of the 1940 Dr. Cyclops on Blu as well...

Lots of questions....

Is CFTBL 2 discs or 3. (This site says 3)
Will Phantom be included?

If Creature is 3 discs then it's 24 discs (with 4 duplicate) + 1 Phantom disc = 25

If Creature is 2 discs then it's 23 discs (with 4 duplicate) + 1 Phantom disc = 24

The latter seems more likely.

Ugh, I can't wait to pick this up. I grew up with most of these as a kid on old MCA Universal VHS tapes. They totally shaped my love of horror films.

I would assume ‘43 Phantom is included. It was included in the 30 film DVD set in 2014.

Here’s what’s throwing me off though. The DVD set was 21 discs with the same films including duplicates so how does this new BD set have three extra discs???

Edit: The Amazon link was posted while I was typing this.
