Hello, everyone. I'm new here. I had written a large post with screenshots comparing the Incredibles Atmos and DTS mixes, but I later found out that newbies aren't supposed to post links or images. Oh, well. I'll post them when I get the chance.

Spoiler alert: Atmos wins. And I'll explain why.

Welcome Surround. I think you might need 10 posts first, then you'll be able to post screenshots, links, pictures, ...all that Atmos jazz.

I believe what you've just said, and I would love reading more about it, with graphs and all.

In my ears the Disney Atmos audio soundtrack is very decent, a solid seven, no small fart.
* In my cinema book anything @ 6.5 and above is worth it.

He was referencing your typo. Instead of saying you didnt have atmos you said you didnt have atoms

So, they kicked him out for being an emotional, hugging drunk that told everyone he loved them when he had a few. Granted, that is not appropriate behavior in the work place, but I can understand how when you have worked with people for 20 or 30 years, the lines between professional, friends and family can get a little blurred. Especially, after a few drinks.

It's best to hug only your wife, your girlfriend, your mistress, your kids, your mom and dad, your grandchildren, your grand daddy and grand mommy, your family, and your best close friends.
Anyone else it's best to not touch and just talk smoothly. That way they don't have a wrong impression that you are drunk on alcohol or stoned high on drugs or both.

Nowadays people judge real quick, and we all know how judgements can turn up; sometimes for the best, other times for the worst. Many bad people are running free, and other innocent people are incarcerated. We need better judges, a better justice system.

Bob's your uncle, the head leader of The Incredibles family.

Over on AVS Forum, a Trinnov Altitude Dolby Atmos owner (with a fairly large system we can all envy) took one for the team and reported back, confirming what some of us have been fearing:

The Dolby Atmos track is, for all intense and purposes, no more than a 7.1.6 print-out track with anemic sonic properties compared to the original 5.1 home theater mix.

On another note, it looks like Disney may not be the only one vying for 20th Century Fox studios' properties: Comcast is now in a bidding war since AT&T was allowed to gobble up Time/Warner.

The Atmouse track comment:

OK, so I took one more for AVS and picked up The Incredibles on UHD/Atmos. It’s barely a 7.1.4 mix, with occasional use of the top middles to accentuate a fire in a building or rain overhead, let alone anything more immersive. The top middles get pulled in briefly after the initial interviews with the heroes, though, so it isn’t pre-rendered to 7.1.4, at least.

No wides or the extra Atmos presence speakers I have light up at all. And all the usual Disney complaints (low dynamic range, not much bass, etc.) still apply...

...Move on, nothing to hear...you’ll be just as good with a Netflix rental LOL. Returning it to Best Buy and picking up something else to test that I don’t have.

Agreed. And the fact that he completely dismisses the PQ improvements and appears to be persuing return fraud greatly lowers my estimation of his review, Trinnov Altitude speakers or no.

I have great news for you, sir: if you listen to that original 5.1 home theater mix, you not only get more robust audio, you get the original spatial mix that's correct for the movie. Win/win!
