It's only about $20 million away from that. Should get to $300 million when its run is over.

There seems to be a lot less hype for Deadpool 2 than the first. Everyone and their mother was commenting on the first Deadpool, not seeing that this time around. I finally watched the first about 2 weeks ago and thought it was pretty enjoyable.

The last 4 years the MCU has kicked off the Summer movie season, (if you want to include Infinity War this year) and the rest of the movies were underperformers except for Deadpool 2.

The last time we had multiple movies doing equally well was in 2014 with multiple movies doing over $200M each with DOFP, Godzilla, Malificent and TASM2.

It tends to happen to the second movie in a series from time to time.

Spiderman 2
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Back to the Future Part II
Ted 2
X2: X-Men United
Avengers: Age of Ultron

All made less than the first movie and it also has something to do with Deadpool overexposed now, he's everywhere, people are probably getting tired of him.

Like the Joker (He doesn't need two movies with two different actors playing him, DC )

Which is probably why Ryan Reynolds thinks it's best to have Deadpool join X-Force instead and scale back Deadpool 3. So basically, Ryan Reynolds already saw this coming.

as much as I would love a 3rd I think he's totally right.

PLUS as shown by this sequel, Deadpool works better in a group setting, with people to bounce off

Deadpool 2 did extremely well, it overcame Solo. If anything, the release date should've remained.

Deadpool 2 did absolutely fine considering it came out, was it three weeks? after Infinity War. Audiences probably weren't ready to turn out in droves for another superhero film so soon, movie tickets are crazy expensive these days and we've been having blockbuster franchise sequel/prequel after blockbuster franchise sequel/prequel for two months now and it's gettting really tiring for me as a hardcore film nut, let alone your average cinemagoer! Plus I would argue that the first Deadpool was a lot of fun, but devoid of plot and disposable entertainment doesn't always lead to hugeass sequel takes.

The way I see Deadpool 2 is Ryan Reynolds getting everything off his chest while he still has the chance. Because it's not everyday that a big budget R-rated superhero movie happens, and Ryan Reynolds was quite limited to what he could do with the first one. After all, the first one was low-budget. While the sequel has almost the same amount as your usual solo MCU movie. So for those who say Deadpool 2 is not as good as the first, you should really look at it from that prospective. I still think there is enough material to do a Deadpool 3. I think what Ryan Reynolds was trying to say is that he is not going to make a Deadpool 3 just for the sake of it. Because he gave it his all with Deadpool 2, you can't go any bigger than that.

I'll say it again, CRANK 2 is a better Deadpool movie than either of the real ones.

Infinity War hurt DP2 and Solo more than the studios expected. Fox should have stuck with June release date.

The same thing happened after The Avengers came out. Films after it suffered less friendly reviews and lower box office as nothing lived up to the hype they got from the Avengers.

Probably because nobody had seen an R-rated Superhero movie before the first Deadpool so it stirred up comments. Everyone knew what to expect this time around, so less of a shock factor...

Deadpool isn't even the first comic book movie to break the fourth wall either...
