Just curious if anyone has gotten the new HomePod and can offer their viewpoint if it is worth the $350 or even worth considering?

Based on the article, it seems like it's pretty limited in what it does except playing music. Seems pretty high priced for a glorified boom box.

my thoughts, as well.

but i do think that will change; like everything else they release. while amazon and google (and others) were busy releasing their versions and having them do lots and lots of stuff and pushing out more and more things they can do and/or control, apple was busy focusing on the sound more than anything else. and that's all well and good, but if your device can't do as much as other devices, then the sound just isn't that big a deal to me.

yes, good/great sound is a very good thing. but to me that's only relevant if you use it to just listen to music. and most people usually buy a smart device for voice control of other things in their home; not just to play music.

i plan on getting mine to control my home theater, lights, and ac/heat controls. and possibly some other stuff.
