Default DAYS OF THUNDER hate?

I don't get it. Almost everyone thinks Days Of Thunder was a horrible transfer. I purchased it the other day fearing the worst. Man alive! The movie looks awesome in every way!

Some people may need a TV calibration.

not everything looks like Wall-E.....shocker!.....

I bet its 100x better then the dvd and the audio probably rocks but people like to complain for the sake of getting attention brought to thier comments........Ive learned one thing about this site.....I dont care what people think about a movie, as long as I like it, its all that matters

When I bought my copy I didn't have time to watch the whole movie and I was a little disappointed in the PQ at first. Then a few days later I got a chance to watch the whole film and man I was wrong, it did look good it was just the first few minutes weren't all that great but I swear the PQ got better as the movie went along. Almost like the bit rate or whatever got better as it played. The SQ is what the movie is really all about and man it did not disappoint.

And yes it is a huge improvement over the DVD.

Same thing here. I remember the first 10 minutes were horrible looking upconverted. The Blu looks outstanding...after the 10 minutes. LOL.

Yeah I dont' think it's that bad. I've been meaning to write a user review to try and balance the rating.

I thought of doing that too...but...then I figured I would be arguing with people that expect CARS quality everytime.

why shut off a movie just because of video quality? VHS was sweet when it was all that existed

I watched this BD yesterday.

The PQ is at max 2.5/5
But thats much better than the DVD. The DVD was Letterbox and a horrible Transfer.

The BD looks like heaven compared to the DVD.
That's what counts for me here. I would love to have an outstanding Transfer. But i'm fine with the one thats on the disc right now.

Very nice for me was the remix of the German Audio in 5.1 Surround instead of the DVD 2.0 Surround.
And it's not a simple Upmix. It's a real discrete 5.1 Mix.

I didnt think it was bad personally b/c I do take into consideration how the movie originally looked when I saw it on VHS.

Off-Topic..... but I finally got around to Seeing "First Blood" on Blu.... after hearing how terrible the transfer was, I gotta say.... It'd be worth twice the going rate for the upgrade in my opinion..... Great AQ, and the PQ was quite nice...... I've re-purchased several DVDs for either the Superbit, or Criterion versions for the incremental increases in PQ/AQ...... and I think people just set the bar too high for some movies.... (Like American Psycho.... for $15, it's worth a re-purchase if you ask me )

I have not purchased it because I heard the PQ was so-so. Now I will go out and get it soon. Thank you Ron !!! (And it should look great because my TV is calibrated!)

Top Gun is much better Tom Cruise film and a much better quality Blu(with top notch PQ,sound and suppliments)The ,D.O.T. Blu is okay with just a trailer,(looks like they just copied what the DVD had in terms of content, although it is a bit higher in quality)but compared to Top Gun,there no contest I'm sure most people reading this will agree! Days of Thunder is by no means a bad film, just a better Blu release would have been nice! The Top Gun DVD gave my home theater quite a workout in the day, until the superior Paramount Blu Ray came out,I beleive Target and Amazon BOTH have this for like 14.99,money well spent/invested!!!

I like both Films the same way. Days of Thunder is Top Gun with Cars

But you are right about the Blu Rays. Top Gun is much better in terms of Quality.

That's right.
But don't forget the horrible Days of Thunder DVD. It was non anamorphic and bad.
The Blu Ray is much better and because of that we can watch the movie for the first time ever in acceptable PQ.

Top Gun was already very good on DVD and DoT wasn't.
Because of that the decision to buy the BD of DoT was easy.
It's for me really the first good Home Version of the Film.

+1. I love Days Of Thunder. Anyone whining about the PQ doesn't have a friggin' clue. It looks and sounds sublime!
